Bom's POV

"Hurry up Bom, we're going to be late!!"

My younger brother shouted from downstairs.

I sighed as I finished straightening my hair.
I wasn't elated to start school again but it was better than always being home.
I needed an escape from this place, and going to school seemed like the only way, unfortunately.

"Bommmmm!! HURRY UP!!"

My brother screamed again, interrupting my thoughts.
I didn't understand his rush, it took ten minutes to reach school and it didn't start for a half hour.

I grabbed my purse and headed downstairs.

"Finally! You take years to get ready!"

My brother said, rolling his eyes while continuing to munch on the granola bar in his hand.

"I don't understand what your rush is, school doesn't start for another 30 minutes! Did you really miss it that much?"

I asked while grabbing a granola bar for myself off the counter as well.

"It's not that, our soccer coach told us to come early today. Before school starts for an important meeting. Who knows, what if I get to be captain this year?" He said, looking at me with his big eyes, a gene that we both inherited from our mother.

I knew how much soccer meant to him, and how much he engrossed himself in it.
He was truly talented, and the coach knew that too but however when choosing captains, seniority always came first and since he was only in 11th now, chances are someone in my grade would get it.

Yet, I couldn't bring myself to say that to him.
Looking at him sit there and talk about soccer while his eyes lit up brought joy to me.
I cherished my younger brother more than anything else in the world.

"Jungkook, I believe you definitely have a big chance!"

He looked at me and grinned which made me even more happy.

"Okay, go fetch the keys, we'll leave right now."

Jungkook quickly got up and grabbed the keys from the living room and tossed them to me.

As I grabbed them, I added on, "Make sure not to forget anything!"

In the car, Jungkook continued rambling about soccer.
Every once in a while I'd throw in a "uh-huh" or "ooohhh" but in reality I was lost in my thoughts.

My entire summer was a ginormous mess and I was desperate to finish high school so I could leave this damn city already.
I assumed with Chaelin being gone, my summer might have been better but it turns out, it was even worse.

My mom got married to my current stepfather over the summer and I was furious.
I didn't want him to live in the same household as me.
Disgusted with the entire marriage, I began to keep my distance away from both of them.

As soon as I finish high school, I plan on moving out and living in a dorm at the college I plan on attending.
I couldn't stand living with him any longer.

As I drove to school, an uneasy feeling crossed me.
I felt it in my gut that something bad was going to happen today.
I looked over at Jungkook, who continued talking, unaware of the feeling, my heart softening at that sight of my endearing younger brother.

We finally reached school.
I helped Jungkook take out his soccer bag from the trunk before locking the car.

"Do you want me to carry this to the field for you?" I asked.
