"Lucille darling, go get mommy her box."
"Yes mother." said Lucille as she ran to the tool shed in the pitch blackness of the night.
She ran back to the house with a black box that had a chain around it and a large lock. Lucille handed it to her mother.
"Good, you know what to do now."
Lucille ran straight to her room, into her bed covers and covered her whole body from her head to her feet. She covered her ears with her palms as she did every night and shut her eyes tightly. It was a routine for her. Every night her mother would open that black box and every night she would feel something in her room. She never dared to check the room or to ask her mother about the box. She tried the latter once and her mother screamed that she would kill her if she ever asked about it again. That scared the life out of little Lucille. Her father always sat in his rocking chair in his room. He rarely stepped out and rarely spoke, especially when his wife was around.
The night passed and morning came. Lucille got ready for school as usual. She ate her breakfast and waited for the bus by the gate. When the bus arrived she would always sit with her best friend, Molly. The two were inseparable."Rough night again, huh?" asked Molly
"Yeah."
"Why don't you just open the box to see what's inside. I know you're as curious as I am."
Lucille shook her head and put her index finger on her lips. Molly just rolled her eyes and changed the subject. They got to school and ran to their classes.

After school, Molly asked Lucille if she could come to the house for the night.
"Sure, you came last time so I'm sure mother wouldn't refuse."
Lucille was dropped off by her gate and ran to ask her mother if her friend could sleep over. Her mother wore a sinister smile on her face and nodded her head slowly.
"That would be great." she said.
Lucille was so excited that she started preparing snacks. It was not everyday that her mother would let her bring someone over. This was her second time in two years. She went to tell her father the good news but he was not as excited.
"No... Not to...day!" he said struggling to say the last words. His voice sounding like a hoarse whisper. His face showing alarm. Lucille's mother walked into the room and glared at her husband. He looked to the ground and continued rocking on his chair. Lucille walked out of the room and went outside.
Evening came and Molly had arrived. The two sat in Lucille's room and talked.
"So, are you going to do it?"
"I don't know, I don't think so."
Their little chat was interrupted by Lucille's mother.
"Lucille, mommy needs her box." she shouted.
Lucille quickly got up from the bed and told Molly to stay. She ran to the shed to get the box and gave it to her mother. She then went to her room.
"We've got to sleep now!" she whispered loudly to Molly.
"Maybe you've got to, but I don't."
"Please Molly, mother will hurt us!" cried Lucille, "please just listen to me!"
Molly shook her head, crossed her hands and sat cross-legged on the bed. Lucille quickly covered her head with her blanket and shut her eyes. Suddenly, Lucille heard a chocking sound and realised she had not covered her ears this time. She hesitated but eventually opened her eyes and removed the blanket from her face. She looked up and found Molly upside-down on the roof, her feet flat on it. Her eyes were closed. Lucille let out a loud scream and Molly opened her eyes. They were not the normal hazelnut eyes she always had, they were a pitch black. The whites of her eyes were missing replaced with a haunting black. This caused Lucille to scream even louder. Her mother opened the door and let out a ground shaking, maniacal laugh.
"She didn't listen, did she?" she asked her voice sounding like a chorus of evil.
Lucille shook her head and cowered in a corner of her room. She noticed that her mother's eyes were the same as Molly's.
"Mother, please don't kill her." Lucille said in a desperate whisper. Her mother heard her and looked in her direction.
"Someone has to be punished for not obeying me!"
"Then--then kill me instead, let her go."
Suddenly Molly disappeared. Lucille stood up and her mother grabbed a hold of her neck. Lucille's eyes slowly began to change into the black eyes her mother had. All the light began to disappear and everything went black, pitch black. The darkness was unbearable, Lucille began to cry.
"Darkness is all you know now." a voice said to her.
"Mother, I can't see, I'm afraid."
"Don't be afraid, the darkness is with you. Open your eyes to the darkness. Give yourself to the darkness." the voice continued echoing in the house.
"Mother, I'm scared!" she cried.
Lucille closed her eyes and sobbed quietly. She could feel the darkness slowly consuming her. She could feel it in her and it made her shiver. It ran from her eyes down to her legs. She gave herself to the darkness. Lucille stood up from where she was and opened her eyes. She could see every small detail she had not been able to, from the smallest ant to a tiny grain of sand and could hear every small sound she had not been able to hear before. Lucille stood in front of her mirror and saw herself, a horrifying version of herself. Her eyes now as black as hell, cracks on her face. She was pale and her lips were dry with cracks in them.
"Am I alive?" she asked herself her voice sounding like a deep whisper.
She felt her face carefully. Lucille put her hand over her heart and realised it was not beating. She walked out of her room and went to her mother's room.
"You called." she said as if her mother had called her telepathically.
Her mother smiled and kissed her on the forehead.
"You did it, you're part of me now. The more we are, the stronger we get." her mother said, her mouth not matching the words she said. "I saved you my girl, you are not sick anymore." She suddenly disappeared. Lucille went to her room. She could feel her father's presence.
"Enter, father."
Her father stepped in. "Why Lucille..."
"Mother showed me the way. You're planning to kill us. Why?"
Her father shook his head and looked to the ground. Lucille moved closer to him and before she could say anything she felt a sharp stabbing pain in her abdomen. She smiled at her father and let out a low giggle. Lucille took the knife out and dropped it on the floor. She then disappeared. Her father, Ezekiel, ran out of the house realising that he had just unleashed a dangerous evil into the world. 'Killing' or at least trying to kill a demon, that demon, would make it stronger. Lucille's spirit was stronger in her room, where her father tried to kill her. Eziekel ran to the shed and took out his hand gun. He put it on his temple and pulled the trigger...
