Chapter 1

Cherrie will be graduating soon and all I can think about is how much I want another one. Carmen and Charlie are both scientists. They work together in a hospital. Carmen married Brooke, a blonde woman who gave him a little girl, Mason, who just turned two. Charlie came out of the closet at 18 and fell in love with Jamie and they decided to adopt a little Australian boy named Jack who is going to be seven in July. Mary May just graduated from college and is moved in with her brunette boyfriend, Kade. Cherrie has been dating a blonde-haired, blue-eyed boy named Casey.

"Dean?"

"Yeah?"

"Can we try again?"

"Try what?"

"I want another baby. Can we try?"

"Are you sure? We have two grand kids already."

"Yeah. Can we try? If it does not work out it is okay."

"But I really don't think we are young enough to have a kid. Haha."

"I really want another though. Sure we have to grand kids but we don't have any babies of our own left. Our babies are all grown up and leaving. I really want another. I want to hold a baby that is my own."

"If we try, we have to be ready for it not to work as well. Will you be ready?"

"The question is will you be?"

~Eight weeks later.

"Dean?"

"Yes?"

"Let's try one more time then just be happy with what we have. We have a beautiful daughter who graduates in one week. Mary May will have a baby in a year or maybe two with that boyfriend of hers."

"Okay one more time. Let's try tonight."

I finish chopping the carrots for the soup for dinner. Starting to feel myself crying, I chop quickly and pour it in the pot.

~Later that night

Dean climbs into the bed and kisses me passionately. I hum a little and kiss back.

"I hope this one is it."
