Dropped In
Prologue
"BANG!" That was one of the many moments when I nearly died. It was one of the most scariest moments in my entire life, all I could hear was the screaming of terror inside my comrades! It all started when I joined up to the Australian military, I was the utmost exited and a few months later I was in the Vietnam War and right in the middle of it. I was terrified when I was dropped in but excited at the same time of what was to come.January 2nd 1963
January 2nd was the first battle I was ever in (The Battle of Ap Bac). My comrades and I where the first wave to be dropped in (The Elites) and were dropped in by helicopter, we were all armed with M16 assault rifles, we were also joined with the American elites to but they were the ground force while we were mostly in the air. In the horizon we could see the smoke rising from the city. As we were reaching our landing zone a missile came right past us and missed after that 3 more missiles were shot at us. One of the missiles had hit our back rotor making us spin in circles eventually leading us to crashing into a 3 story building. As we emerged from the rubble we saw two Vietcong (VC) soldiers pointing there AK47's at us. At that moment we knew we had been defeated when an Australian attack chopper came in and blew the VC to bits with there 30 caliber machine guns. As we saw what had happened we were scared and amazed both at the same time because we didn't know what to do when suddenly we see a massive barrage of lights going into the sky, at that moment I realised that it was VC anti air guns coming from the tops of some buildings. We knew we had to take them down, and fast but the only problem was getting to the guns because the VC had all of them guarded to the brim. A few minutes later we were all set up ready for the attack joined by some of the American flame troopers to burn down some of the guns when we were forced to retreat back into the jungle and regroup with the rest of our troops in a village nearby.Man Down Chapter 2
