"..and they lived happily ever after." The mother of an attentive child had finished the story as she shut the book closed.
"But ma, I want another bedtime story." The child whined, trying to persuade her mother to pick another book to read from the bookshelf that the mother was currently walking to, gracefully placing back the story book into it's rightful place back at the bookshelf.
"Maybe next time dear, it's time for bed." The mother hummed. She was relieved to hear a faint yawn coming from the child, signalling the end of the night for her.
"Promise you'll read to me next time?" The little girl said as she shuffled into a comfortable position as her eyes slowly started drooping, slowly loosing the battle of slumber.
"Promise."
You promised to read to me next time.
But you never did... for 10 years. You left me, on that bed asleep. Not knowing that you'd never come back. Dad's gone crazy, drunk, irresponsible... lost his job 2 weeks ago. Started beating me out of frustration. I was his punching bag, not his daughter. Oh ma, if you could only see how much we needed you right now. Maybe you'd come back. Maybe things would be the same like before.
But it never will...
I don't blame ya, I mean... who would want to be proud of a daughter doing part time jobs here and there. Not focused on the important things like education, I'd probably become a college drop out. Our landlord has been nagging us like crazy every wednesday, She'd ask if we had money for the rent and threatened to kick us out if we didn't pay in 2 weeks.
Its been 14 days...
If only I could hear you telling me those stories again. Princesses rich and pretty, always having a great time in their life. No problems, just perfect. They even have a prince charming too, if only that was real. If I was the female heroine in that storybook. Maybe my life would be easier, maybe I wouldn't have to be standing on the ledge of the balcony right now. Maybe I wouldn't have second thoughts over jumping off the edge. I can feel my feet slipping off. Fear over myself actually falling. Sadness over the fact I have so much problems that I've resorted to this solution.
What if the stories you told me were true?
What if a prince charming would appear to my rescue amd catch me from falling to my death?
Only one way to find out.

"You're still into her? What the f*** man. There are loads of other women to choose from. Don't waste your time on trash like her." I rolled my eyes as I irritatedly tapped the screen of my stupid phone multiple times. Hoping to get a reply from her.
"Unlike you, I'm not a womanizer. And for your information, she's not trash..." she just has lots of problems she hasn't been able to cope up with. I said staring at my phone. I've called her 28 times and she hasn't picked up and I texted more than 50 times already. What's with her? She hasn't been to college for 3 days straight. I'm starting to worry.
"See what I mean? This guy's too much of a gentleman. To be honest, all ladies would fall for your personality. Except for your looks." Ouch. Harsh much?
"You're too thin and you wear glasses."
"So?"
"Im not saying all guys who wear glasses look bad. Some may look hot while wearing one.." he looked at me with a smirk "..if they can pull off the look." He teased me. I rolled my eyes in annoyance.
It's like every guy I meet has to have at least 5 pictures of women from the internet. Or have a list of all the school campus' girls' names and have a rating on looks. 1-5...
