Spring fell on the streets of Seoul as Minjoo walked through the streets, breathing in the fresh air filled with the smell of flowers and earth.

Oh how she wished that she could stay home at such a perfect day, but unfortunately, spring break was over, and so were her dreams of sleeping in her soft, comfy bed.

A gust of air blew against her as she snuggled her books closer to her chest. She was now also feeling hungry, regretting that she woke up late and had to rush to school.

Crossing a road, she finally reached her school, Seoul Arts High. It was a prestigious school full of students that were children of doctors, company owners, it was basically a school for the rich.

Despite Minjoo's rejection, her parents decided that Minjoo should attend a school where she can showcase her talents and ability. Minjoo did feel discouraged since all her life, she just wanted to be a normal teenager, living her own life with her own decisions.

Passing through the gates of the school campus, everybody turned their direction to her. It was always the same things that happen every morning. All the students would stare at her until she disappeared into the school hallways. Minjoo found it uncomfortable but she couldn't help it since she was the daughter of the school's chairman.

Minjoo kindly smiled at everyone until she arrived at her locker, where her best friend, Jihye, was waiting for her.

"Hi Jihye," Minjoo waved as her best friends turned her attention to her.

"You're unusually late, Min. What happened?" Jihye asked in curiosity. Minjoo was usually an early bird.

"I.. had some homework I forgot to do," Minjoo giggled sheepisly, not wanting to admit that she actually got hooked on a drama series and watched it till late night.

"At least you did your work. I've barely even touched mine, pretty sure I'm getting detention for that," Jihye said. Although they were friends, Minjoo was the responsible and hardworking one who got good grades, while Jihye was the kind to not do any work but still score excellently.

Minjoo smiled, opening her locker, taking out her calculus and chemistry books. Jihye waited for her patiently at her side. When Minjoo gave her a signal that she was done, they walked together to their homeroom class.

Their classroom was a mess, with boys running around everywhere and girls fixing their hair and makeup. Minjoo smiled at everybody who smiled at her, taking a seat beside Jihye near the window.

"Minjoo! Jihye! You're finally here!" Jihye's brother, Guanlin, ran to us.

"Hey Lin," Minjoo waved at the younger boy.

Before Guanlin could greet Minjoo back, Daehwi jumped on his back, waving at Jihye and Minjoo.

"Hey guys!" Daehwi said, as Guanlin struggled with him on his back.

Both girls waved at Daehwi as he jumped down from Guanlin's back. "What are you doing here, Dae?" Jihye asked the younger boy.

"Oh! I just wanted to inform you that our friend is a new student in your class. He's from Canada," Daehwi explained.

"Cool. So he's Canadian?" Minjoo asked.

"He's actually a Korean. He just migrated to Australia since young and has decided to come back," Guanlin explained further.

"His name is Bae Jinyoung. So please do look put for him. He's quite shy too, so just tell him that you know me. We got to go now, bye!" Daehwi winked before running out of the senior's classroom, dragging poor Guanlin along with him. Jihye and Minjoo laughed as their teacher, Mr. Park, their calculus teacher walked in.

Everyone suddenly sat down since Mr. Park was a strict teacher. He came inside with a young
boy trailing behind him. As the young boy turned, all the girls squealed.

"Settle down students. Today, we have a new student, Bae Jinyoung," Mr. Park began, pointing to the boy who looked shyly at the floor.

He looked up, revealing his deer-like eyes. "H-Hi, I'm B-Bae Jinyoung. Nice to meet you all," he said, smiling a little. Suddenly, Kang Ara stood up and clapped. Everybody looked at her weirdly as she sat down, embarassed.

"Okay... anyways, Bae Jinyoung, you can go sit beside Seojun," Mr. Park said, pointing to the empty seat beside the freckled boy. Jinyoung bowed and walked to his place, which was beside Minjoo also.

When their eyes met, Minjoo smiled but she realised that Jinyoung's eyes widened before giving her a weak smile before sitting down, and that was the last time he had looked into Minjoo's eyes.
