Sociopath- a person who has antisocial personality disorder, it can only be diagnosed at the age of 18 or above however the following have to be present before the age of 15 before the diagnosis:
-repeated violations of the law
-Pervasive lying and deception
-physical aggressiveness
-Reckless disregard for safety of self or others
-Constant irresponsibility in work and family environments
-lack of remorsePhsycopathy is sort of like a more severe form of sociopathy so with a few more symptoms (more severe)
Phsycopaths:
-lack of guilt/remorse
-lack of empathy
-lack of deep emotion attachments
-Narcissism
-superficial charm
-dishonesty
-manipulativeness
-reckless risk takingWhile the traits of phsycopaths and sociopaths are similar there are some key differences such as that sociopaths are said to have a less severe lack of empathy and remorse than a phsycopath. It is also thought that a sociopath can form few/some emotional bonds with people. For example while a sociopath would feel no guilt in hurting a stranger, it is possible that they would feel remorse hurting a person who they share a bond with.
It has also appeared the antisocial personality disorder in a sociopath *might* lessen over time while this cannot be said about phsycopaths. Phsycopaths also have little concern for consequences while sociopaths learn to avoid them with time.
Phsycopaths are also mostly reportedly able to mimic the 'normal' emotions of people and remain charismatic and is organized in their crime and control.
Sociopaths are often more nervous and can act spontaneously, and may also appear more nervous and agitated and is more easily an quickly angered.
A/N this is my first section, I will elaborate on these topics in the future, this is just a basis to know the differences
