S U M M A R Y
On her way to being happy and providing a more stable life for her family, Anabes Imain is now an orphan and the guardian to her little brother, Olly. Surviving the Wilding raid on her village and tasked to deliver a message to The Night's Watch, Anabes is thrown into the middle of an all out war. Now, hardened, terrified and alone she maneuvers through her days at Castle Black as carefully as she can.
Keen to keeping her head down and eyes away from the many men of The Night's Watch she almost misses the one man who seems to see her as a person and not an object. Jon Snow isn't like the other men, he's taken Olly under his wing and is teaching him to fight, treats Anabes to stimulating conversations and actually sees her, unlike the many men who wish to have their way with her.
Just when they start to realize their feelings the world and security they once had begins to crumble. Treason, deceit, and murder are looming just out of reach, gaining speed with every new voice talking against Jon and his decisions.
Can Anabes protect her brother, the man she loves and survive the darkness ready to swallow them all whole? Surviving the attack was an impossible feat in itself, but surviving the brutal winter at Castle Black may just be wishful thinking.
