"The Watchers on The Wall"
•••

Gut-wrenching screams echoed off the walls, and the sound of blood was splashing against the wooden floors was all we could hear as The Wilding's tore their hammers and axes into the people of Moles Town. Gilly had her hand clamped over Little Sams mouth, and I had her shoved as far into the wall as I could get her. My body was between her and any Wilding that came across us. My hold on the knife in my hand was painfully tight as I listened for footsteps.

"We need to get out of here," she hissed.

"Quiet!" I spat back, "We need to survive this first," I whispered.

The screams seemed to be dying down now, and I shifted on tired legs, the corner we were in would go unnoticed for now, but soon they would look for survivors to play with and bodies to cut up and stumble upon us. I gripped the knife tighter and watched the curtain pull back slowly.

A familiar and most hated face appeared. Ygritte stood before us her eyes shifting from me, to Gilly, to Sam and back to me her finger brought to her lips before she walked away.

In the distance, I could hear her raspy voice coax a group out the side door with promises of more kills in other buildings. After a minute of silence, I motioned for Gilly to wait as I peeked outside. It was abandoned and bloody, but quiet.

"Grab nothing. Follow me," I quickly told Gilly who tucked Little Sam into her makeshift sling and nodded her head in determination.

We needed to get to Castle Black and warn them. I needed to get to my brother.

I could not believe this. Pyp was arguing with us.

"I'm sorry, I can't open the gate for nobody. It's ordered!" I could hear in his voice that he was struggling with what to do.

Next, to me, Gilly's eyes widen in shock, and I glared up at Pyp, "Goddamit, Pyp open the gate!"

"They killed everyone! Everyone but me, Sam and Ana. And they're out there. I saw them on the way here; they may have seen us, they may have followed us please!" The desperation in Gilly's voice nearly destroyed me.

"I'm sorry, I can't,"

"If they find the boy, you do not know what they'll do!"

Sam's voice rang out, and I sighed in relief, "Pyp! Open the gate,"

"I can't,"
