September
I pulled into the Cherry Hill High parking lot and tried to find a spot. I found one at the back of the parking lot and pulled in. I was so nervous as I got out of my car.
What if they all hate me? What if they think I'm weird? Or they make fun of all the scars on my hand?"
I fixed my hair one more time and pushed myself to walk forward. I kept my eyes on the ground and tried not to look at all the new people that were with all their cliques.
You'll be fine. You'll be fine. I told myself over and over trying to over come the weighted feeling in my chest and the angry rabbits hopping around in my stomach. I opened the doors, took a deep breath and walked in. The school was crowded since the original school was made for only 100 kids and nowadays there were about 800 kids in the school. I looked down and searched my schedule for my class. Room 032 Mr.St.Laire. I walked along the hallways looking for the room, the hallway went straight and then took a left turn and there was another hallway leading down that way. I walked down the hallway and didn't find the room on the first hall so I turned down the second and went down that hallway. Finally at the end of the hallway I found my class, I walked inside and hightailed it to the back of the class. I sat down a seat behind a very pretty looking girl with olive skin and long dark hair. She seemed nice enough but I know to NEVER EVER judge a book by its cover so I tried to shrink in my seat as much as possible and pulled my journal out of my bag and started writing:
GOSH I'm so nervous about school. I'm glad my brother got me and him out of there but I hate that I'm starting over again. My hand is definitely an eyesore and everyone is gonna want to know and I'm going to have to tell them the story.
Then all of a sudden I heard a girls voice and a couple of guys get really loud.
"LOOK IT'S DYLAN" one of the guys shouted. I looked up to see the what all the hullabaloo was about and saw a guy with blonde hair and dark blue eyes standing there with embarrassment and guilt written all over his face but then it was gone in a split second and his face was calm and cheerful.
"Hey Dylan" a girl with Auburn hair and brown eyes said flirtatiously, he smiled back at her but had an edge of weariness to his smile.
They obviously have history I thought to myself and was about to look away when the boy caught my eyes held my gaze for a second then quickly glanced away.
Um, OK I was not crazy Mr.Fancy totally just looked at me.
Mr.Fancy A.K.A Dylan sat down next to the flirty girl and her face lit up so bright she could've put the sun to shame. I rolled my eyes and looked around the room, there was a group of kids sitting towards the front but on the side of the classroom that looked like people I should stay away from. One of the kids,a girl with hot pink tips to her dyed blonde hair, glanced at me then leaned out of her seat to talk to the girl across from her.
Ughhh have I already started trouble for myself just by looking around?
I diverted my eyes from that direction and looked on the other side of the room, there was the pretty girl again waving at another girl who had come in late. She had natural blonde hair but much darker then mine, she waved at the pretty girl and they both started talking. I looked away not wanting to intrude on another conversation where I was not wanted.
Finally the teacher walked in and called class to order. He made a whole speech about how he was new to the school and very excited to start the year with us and blah blah blah...BRIIINNNGG
The bell rang and I booked it out of the classroom and stood in the hall trying to figure out my next class.
"Hi." A voice in front of me said. I jumped back startled.
"Whoa didn't mean to scare you, sorry" the girl laughed and smiled " Hi I'm Sheryll, what's your name?"
"Uh.. hi I'm um Luna"
She smiled again "that's a pretty name, the bell was actually mis-timed and it's a little early my friend Cathy tried to call you back in but you already booked it." She laughed again I laughed with her.
"Sorry, I'm just so nervous."
"That's completely normal!"
Behind her the pretty girl with dark skin came out of the classroom. Sheryll turned around.
"Hi Cathy" she turned back to me " Cathy this is Luna, Luna this is Cathy."
I looked over at Cathy and smiled, she smiled back.
"Where's your first class?" Cathy asked me.
"Uh..." I looked down at my schedule "the choir room?"
"That's our next class too!"Cathy said with a huge smile
"Cool," I said following my newfound friends. We got to the choir room and Sheryll and Cathy spotted some more of their friends.
"Hey guys!" Cathy squealed and ran over for hugs. One of her friends was standing next to a boy with dark brown hair and very dark brown eyes and he was standing next to none other then Mr.Fancy! We walked in the classroom and had class, when it was over I headed straight for Cathy and Sheryll they were talking with another girl a bit short and again had blonde hair but it was much lighter the mine and she had very light but pretty blue eyes. When I approached them Cathy immediately introduced us the other girls name was Samantha but she liked to go by Sam. Cathy,Sam and Sheryll started to talk about everything and anything I took the time to admire them. They all seemed perfect not a hair out of place, makeup on point. I sighed, I can't pull that off, I hate makeup and my hair,no matter how much I brush it always has Friz that is everywhere, my green eyes aren't all one perfect color like theirs are, my eyes have green, blue and bits of brown all mixed together. Well there went my chances of fitting in...Hey guys!! Thanks for reading and I hope your starting to love Luna as much as I do! Prepare for chapter three!
