Hi I am tom gager, this story Is going to tell you a bit about myself and how I became a professional rugby player so SIT DOWN, SHUT UP AND READ!!!

It was April 3rd, 1987 when i was born, I was taught how to speak, walk, how to tie up my shoes, an you know all the basics that you are taught when you are a baby by my parents.By the time I was 5 I was a busy boy living on a farm always doing house chores and feeding the cows but worst of all picking up all of the animals wastes out the back!

At my home in horsley park Sydney Australia I didn't have a television to watch any sort of sports, shows, movies what so ever but one day my farther John Gager came up to me and told me the best thing I have ever heard in my life he said "son I am giving you the opportunity to come with me to a stadium to watch a sport called rugby league, would you like to come"

I was so happy that I just stood there frozen for about 25 seconds, after that 25 seconds I finally said "yes".

Weeks past by and it was finally the day that I was going to go to brook vale oval to watch two teams clash in a sport called RUGBY LEAGUE.The two teams that are versing are the Parramatta eels and the Manly sea eagles.

I get to Brooke vale oval, I smell happiness in the air I am ready.

8:00 the referee blows the whistle, the ball goes flying through the air straight into the manly players hands he passes it to the forward he runs straight into the defence, all you can hear is a big loud BANG!! as the players collide the grand stand rumbles and the crowd cheer and clap

We are now 24 minutes into the match, the parramatta eels have possession Eric grothe has the ball he steps the manly defender with only the full back to beat, ray price comes up in support Eric passes it on to Ray, the full back still has a hold if Eric, Ray price SPRINTS to the line and puts the ball down, IT'S A TRY !!!! the crowd of parramatta eels fans go crazy the grand stand once again rumbles.

The score is now 4-0 the kicker Eric grothe is 30 metres out in between the footy posts and the side line, Eric lines the football with the posts, than places it on the tee, he takes 4 steps back and just stands the look at the ball than the post than the ball than the post, until he has finally decided where he is going to kick, he than takes 4 long steps forward and kicks the ball of the tee and the ball flies through the air and goes straight between the posts to make it 6-0

By the time the 80 minutes is complete, the parramatta eels win 26-10, after that day I found a sudden interest in the sport rugby league, I inform my dad about this and he says " son I'm sorry but you are to young to play a sport like this it is too dangerous" as he says that, I shader I then run to my room crying like I have never cried before.

12 YEARS LATER ...

I am now 17, it is February 6 2004, my farther died last night, he died of lung cancer you know he was a, well uh.... heavy smoker so he died.

I now live with my mum on our farm, I have been a lot more busy lately, with the death tragedy of my farther I have got a lot more work to get done.

I still remember that day my farther asked me If I wanted to watch a rugby league game, and I still remember how it was eels vs eagles, and how the eels actually won.

To this day I go for the parramatta eels, I go for them because they are the most memorable team in rugby league.

1 month later

Today I am going to ask my mother the biggest question ever, this question may or may not change my life, this question is: am I allowed to play rugby league.
