3rd era, after Queen Sarah's return

Dear Bryhart,
I believe that this is the first letter i'm writing to you, after six years of leaving the Glutton Mercenaries. Life in the Fat Kingdom had continously put that memory of contacting you in the back of my mind; but with that said, I apologize for not at least riding back to visit you or the others. I also wanted to apologize for how I acted up until I left. I was impatient, arrogant, and never listened to your advice when most needed. I have grown now, as this Kingdom and its people have taught me so much. I haven't become one of the Queen's guards like I had intended, but what I have is so much better. I'll send another letter explaining more, but I'm short on time.
Love and best wishes,
Lucian, The Red Lotus Feeder

Chapter 1

Lucian put the letter in an envelope and sealed it tightly. He now stood at the age of twenty three, being young and limber but strong and bold as well. He wouldn't normally wear his full set of armor at a time like this, but the situation call for it. "Lucian, Katarina wanted me to tell you that they're meeting outside the Kingdom's walls before the attack." Iangrad announced as he opened his bedroom door.

Lucian nodded and stepped out of warm, cozy bedroom. "Thank you, Iangrad. I also have a letter for someone important, could you find a courier to deliver it while i'm gone?" He asked. Iangrad took the letter and examined it. "Of course. I'll find someone to do the job." Lucian smiled softly and pat him on the back. "Again, thank you my friend. Play Sarah a song or two while i'm gone, okay?" The two chuckled and hugged one another before Lucian departed. After a series of other goodbyes from the other champions, Lucian stepped down the stairs, with his sword keen and his armor strong.

"Everyone, line up! If you do not have a horse, pair up with someone in your squadron!" Katarina barked. Outside the Kingdom walls, a battalion of warriors, archers, and a handful of guards sat on horses, with one horse saved just for Lucian. The armored man hopped on, and cantered towards Katarina.

"Everything alright?" Lucian asked, turning the horse's head towards Katarina. She nodded quietly. "I wish we had more warriors, but it'll do."
Lucian looked down at his horse, which was overfed and fat, just like the other warriors. "Let's tell them the plan..." He announced. "...and maybe rally them up a bit?" He suggested to her. Katarina chuckled softly at Lucian and took out a paper diagram of the Ingram castle. She cleared her throat before speaking again. "Warriors! Our assault on Ingram castle will require your cooperation and understanding of our orders. Here, we have attack strategies based on the  castle's schematics..." The female warrior handed the paper to a horse-mounted warrior, who looked at it curiously for a short period of time. "...To start, our archers will attack anyone guarding the rooftops, and provide distraction while the cavalry moves inside. Once we enter, expect fighting on every turn. We'll find the Emperor, force him to sign the treaty, and be back by tomorrow morning. If you won't fight for yourselves, do it for the High Queen and her Kingdom!" She boldly exclaimed.

Just mentioning her fueled the large fighters. Lucian unsheathed his crimson blade, and the others copied. Katarina grinned at Lucian, feeling energized after her small speech. "We'll begin the trek to Ingram castle right away. It'll be an all day ride, so use your rations and water carefully." She added on. The dark-skinned knight took a swig of water and wiped his face. He then had his horse canter to the beaten path, signaling Katarina and the others to follow.

Chapter 2

It was  sundown for the duo and their warriors. Lucian stood upright on his horse, while Katarina leaned in near her horse's mane. "Lucian, you're going to strain your back like that. It won't kill you to relax a bit." The Crimson Knight smirked. "Had you told me that six years ago, I would've thought you were crazy." Katarina sighed, shifting her horse a bit as the trail turned to the left. "Look at us now, huh? It's hard to believe you were once only an apprentice to me. Can't say I was the best mentor, either." She teased as she opened her canteen and drank from it. "Don't sell yourself short, Katarina..." Lucian announced. "I asked for a lot back then...you were only helping me get what I want." "Perhaps...but in return, I got both a friend and an ally in combat. It seems like a fair exchange to me." She replied softly.
