Sunlight beams through her light curtains casting a shadow inside the girl's dark room. She only had her desk lamp on with a couple of study materials laying on the desk. Her head was laid down as she tried to at least get two hours of sleep to start the day.

As soon as the two digits on her phone turned to 6:00 a.m, Red Flavour by Red Velvet started playing. As a way to wake her up, Nareum purposely put a loud energetic song and put the phone as close to her ear as possible. It was the only way to wake her up. Once she starts sleeping, nothing can get past through her.

Letting out a disgruntled groan, Nareum lifted her head up before reaching for her phone. Her head cheered for her to tap on the okay button but her heart could only weakly pray she would tap the snooze button. Following her heart, she tapped on the snooze button and carried on sleeping.

This went on for four times before Nareum finally surrendered in defeat. She lifted her head up, took her glasses off before rubbing her eyes as they adjusted themselves. Shocked by the time displayed on her phone, she quickly rushed to get ready for school.

Soon, Nareum rushed her way down the stairs with her textbooks in her right hand whilst her bag still left unzipped. Making her way to the kitchen, she was greeted with her mother who was in the same situation as her.

"Good morning, mum," Nareum says, leaning towards the island table as her hand reached for an apple.

"Good morning, darling," her mum rushed all over the place, checking if everything was in order before going to work, "I'll be home late again tonight, is it okay for you to order a takeaway?"

Being the daughter of a surgeon and pilot for Korea Airlines, Nareum was used to her parents absence in the house. It was understandable as both of her parents lead a very hectic schedule.

Her mum's schedule was very uncertain but packed all the same. There have been times when the hospital would suddenly call her for an emergency surgery resulting her to end up sleeping in the hospital. On her father's case, being a pilot comes with an incredibly hectic schedule. But once he was on vacation, he'll end up having the week off.

"It's okay, mum. Don't worry about me," Nareum looked at her watch, "oh shoot, I have to go now. By this rate, I'll miss the bus!"

Her mum looked at her worriedly, "do you want me to take you to school?"

Nareum shook her head, "it's alright, mum, have a nice day!"

"You too, dear!" her mum shouted.

Nareum ran hurriedly towards the bus stop, scolding herself for ignoring her alarms. The walk to her bus stop from her house took 10 minutes on her normal days but she can manage to get there within under 5 minutes if she were running for her life.

"Legs don't fail me now, I can't be late today," Nareum pants, looking at her watch and instantly picked up a faster pace. If she were to manage her pace, she would have three minutes to spare until the bus arrives. She couldn't believe that all the exercising she's done has been let to this day.

Suddenly, someone pulled her backpack which made her almost lost her footing due to being dragged backwards. Scared but mostly agitated, she armed herself with the small pepper pray tucked in her blazer's pocket as she turned around bracing herself for the worst.

"I have an extra hot pepper spray and I am not afraid to use it!" Nareum stated as she turned around, unconsciously spraying the pepper spray to her defender.
