CHAPTER ONE
I had never thought you could be so fatally attracted to someone. Until I saw him. He sat at the back of the class, in my seat, slouched as if he could hide himself further. I don't think he knew, you couldn't hide when you looked like that... ruffled brown hair, broad shoulders hidden under a maroon hoodie, a jaw that teased at his sharp personality and his eyes... oh his eyes were a hurricane. A gorgeous unequivocally dangerous hurricane. He looked like the type of boy who left a quaking damage when he left.
He hadn't noticed me. He hadn't noticed anyone. He was glaring through the window beside him. The window I occasionally stared at when I had nothing else to do in class.
I had been standing at the door, watching him since I got there. He was the first person seated in the room, usually that would be me, so I was a little dumbfounded when I discovered him sitting at my desk. I mean it wasn't like I owned the table, I did however, carve my name in the light wood along with all the other scratches and dents. Students had started to arrive and I still stood against the wall peeking through the doorway. Everyone was curious. It was the second week of senior year and there was a new face among us all. Of course, he would naturally gain attention."Flora?" I jumped at the sound of my name and looked at the sudden voice.
My best friend, Maliya stood with a confused expression as another person walked around her into the classroom. Behind her, with his arms wrapped around her waist was, Michael, her boyfriend and my other best friend."What are you doing?" She asked.
"Staring at the new kid," I whispered with a small smile.
Maliya stepped forward and peaked into the room, thankfully he had yet to turn around and notice all the glances and whispers he had caused but something in the way he sat, stiff and fist clenched, told me he was aware, as if he was holding himself back from facing everyone.
"Well he is something to stare at..." Maliya whispered back. Her eyes were wide as she watched him too. I wondered if that's what I looked like this whole time. Michael cleared his throat as if to remind his girlfriend he was right here and we both grinned up at him. He rolled his eyes and threw his arms around us. He pushed us forward and I held back the panic. I wasn't ready to go inside. He was sitting in my seat and my best friends knew it too. I felt myself shoved forward and had to stop myself from falling. I glared back at Michael as the two sent me a wink as they took their seats in the row in front of him. There were now only two empty seats, the first further to the front and the last was beside him. I slowly made my way through everyone politely nodding at the few greetings I received.
I pulled the chair next to him back, trying not to let it graze against the linoleum floor. I was about to take a seat when he swivelled his head and looked directly at me.
I froze.
I'm fairly nice to everyone, I try not to judge based on appearances especially with who I'm best friends with, I mean, Michael is the Captain of the basketball team and Maliya is the Head captain of the varsity dance team - besides the fact they were a cliché gorgeous couple - they were the furthest from cruel and mean like any typical popular power couple.
