John wasn't with Molly the day of the ultrasound. He was busy with his new girlfriend, Mary, and so Molly sat on the uncomfortable, white bed alone, awaiting the doctor. She felt like crying. She was miserable without Sherlock, she felt alone in the world.
Molly had been spending most of her time in Baker Street recently, because it was just easier. Plus the fact that she was pretty good pals with Mary, and she was obviously also spending a lot of her time there too. It was fun, yeah, but she couldn't do anything except from eating, sleeping, going to her appointments, and very rarely, shopping.
After she found out the gender of the baby, she would begin to shop a lot. She'd get quite a few photos that day as well. One for her, her mother, one for John, for Mary, one for Myroft. . . one for Sherlock.
She couldn't give up hope. Maybe if Sherlock knew about the baby he'd come home quicker. She didn't even know how she would get the photo to him. Maybe Mycroft would deliver it. No, Mycroft was focused on dismantling Moriarty's network. He wouldn't help her. No one else would either for that matter. She - or rather they - were on there own.
The baby shifted slightly in her stomach. It hadn't started kicking properly yet. Molly placed her hand on her bump. " Don't worry, baby. . . Daddy's gonna be home soon."
Soon after that, her Midwife Sarah walked in. She didn't know Sarah that well, just for her appointments, but she seemed really nice so Molly made the effort to put on a smile for her.
" Hello, Miss Hooper," Sarah said brightly.
" Call me Molly, please," Molly replied with a half-assed smile.
" Oh, well okay then, Molly," Sarah said. She sat down in a chair next to Molly and a big screen. " You're four months along now, aren't you? How's everything going?"
Molly sighed. " I'm exhausted."
Sarah laughed. " Well, that's to be expected. Anything else?"
" I've gained some weight," Molly thought, " and I've felt some movement."
" Good. Has there been any problems?"
" Except from having to piss all the time, no," Molly chuckled. Sarah laughed happily. " No, but seriously, what is up with that!?"
Sarah laughed once again. " I think baby likes to sit on your bladder a bit too much." She poked Molly's belly very gently. Molly laughed.
" Yes. And I think they should stop."
After Sarah had done laughing, she asked, " Just so that we know, do you want to know the gender?"
Molly pondered one last time. " Well, I don't really, but my friends all want to know."
" What about your man?" Sarah questioned.
Molly froze. " He, um, he - Sherlock, um, he's gone."
" Oh my," Sarah clapped her hand over her mouth, " I'm so sorry, I didn't-"
" No, I get it," Molly told her and smiled weakly. " And to answer your question, yes. I suppose I do want to know."
Sarah smiled again. " Well then. I best go get the doctor," she said and stood up, " if there are any problems, give me a call, if not, I'll see you at your next appointment."
" Yes," Molly replied, " I'll see you soon then."
" Bye," Sarah said as she left Molly.
