Chapter 1

Shelby raced down the stairs and hallways of her castle. It was two days after her coronation. She had become queen in less than 24 hours. Why? Because her mother died recently. Her father had died when she was five.

Tears streamed down Shelby's rosy cheeks. She pushed the castle doors open and ran through her kingdom. She ran outside the walls and toward the graveyard that had held her mother.

Soon she reached her grave and kneeled down before her. She sat on her knees and her hands rested in her lap. Tears continued to flow one by one down her rosy, warm cheeks. "Mother, why did you have to leave so soon? I'm only 15 and I'm Queen. Do you know hard that is? There's to much pressure than I know what to do with!" She looked down at her knees as a sob escaped her.

"The only one there to help guide me is Zach, and Mother. He's barley no help at all." Shelby's voice was shaking and more high pitched than usual. It wasn't that she was excited, she was just overwhelmed and stressed.

A few days after her mother's funeral, Princess Shelby Grace was scheduled to become queen. At this very moment she was known as Queen Shelby Grace. Though Shelby was not mentally prepared for this, she had tried her best to hold everything in as long as she could. Two days was the best she could do.

"Mother, please take this burden away from me. Some how some way." Shelby pleaded. She shut her eyes closed and had put her hands together. Hoping something would happen to make her stress no more.

Shelby had heard silence, until. Screams and flames rang in Shelby's ears. Her eyes shot open and she stood up. She walked towards where her kingdom was located. Her eyes widened in shock.

Shelby felt paralyzed. Unable to nothing. Frozen in time. A guard and villager ran out of the entrance door and started up the hill to where Shelby was standing.

The ground behind them, her kingdom was falling down into the ocean. "I didn't mean it like this." Shelby whispered to herself. The villager was hurt, he had his arm around the guards arm as they climbed the hill.

Shelby's legs became numb and she fell to her knees. She stared at the ground. Shelby shakily reached upon her head. She shakily grabbed the large silver crown that sat on her head. She slipped it off and looked at it.

"I'm no queen. I just watched my kingdom burn down in flames. Then fall into the ocean. What leader am I?" Shelby asked herself. She felt hand on her shoulder. She looked over to see the guards face.

Ross. He was Shelby's best friend from when they were younger. They would call each other cousins. "Shelby. Nows not the time to be feeling sorry for yourself. We need to help this villager out." Ross turned his attention towards the villager.

"I have a name you know?" He said angrily. "May I have your name sir?" Ross asked standing up straight. "Max." Max stated bluntly before turned back to his wound.

Shelby remembered the small treehouse Ross herself used to play in. "Ross, don't we have a first aid kit in the treehouse." Ross stared at Shelby and thought. He then turned around and started jogging towards where ever it was located.

Shelby took one glance at Max's that was located on his calve, and felt like throwing up. She didn't dare look at it again. Ross soon came back with a first aid kit started tending to Max's wound.

Shelby hadn't officially gave up her title as queen.
