It felt like they had been flying through space for ages, eons, any long amount of time felt appropriate to use here. Though time was moving slowly for everyone else, it was at a stand still for the two Zircons in the pilot seat of the ship.
Blue had turned herself, or rather, Yellow had encouraged her, so she was facing Yellow with her legs wrapped around the back of the seat. Yellow parted her lips in a smug little grin as she stroked Blue's cheek with her thumb and let her other hand rest on the small of her back.
"So, what shall we do once we arrive on this Earth planet?"
"I-I thought you had at least some idea!"
"Shhh, no panicking, Blue."
"I'm no-!!" Blue was quickly silenced by Yellow raising her eyebrow in suspicion, and the other Zircon quickly clammed up, her face turning a dark navy.
"Better. Now. We have some time before we are scheduled to land. We could carefully plan out our every move and calculate the potential risks..."
"Yes, yes we should do that!!"
Yellow couldn't help but quietly laugh under her breath, her face now incredibly close to Blue's. The other gem visibly stiffened as Yellow lightly kissed her cheek and pressed into her.
"But there will be time for that, there will be time. For now, we should enjoy these final moments of quiet."
"I-I sup-pose..." Blue bit her lip, wrapping her arms around Yellow's shoulders and looking to the back of the ship. Something wasn't quite right, but...Yellow said no panicking. She wasn't going to panic.
"So, we-what?" Something seemed to have caught Yellow's attention as the dashboard suddenly lit up and started making a storm of beeping and whistling sounds. Blue was right, something was wrong.
"It says were already here...? But how?! These ruby ships can't be that fast.."
"They have since upgraded them..." Blue weakly offered, moving to get up, but Yellow kept a firm hold on her as she tapped away.
"We're coming into the atmosphere too fast..." She muttered, her brow twitching in concentration. She couldn't seem worried, because that would make Blue worried. In actuality, she had no idea how to fly these ships.
"What do you mean, too fast?!"
"N...No big deal. We'll just have a rough landing." A rough landing was quite the underestimate. By her guess, the ship would be completely totaled, there only method of escape, destroyed.
"I don't like the way you're saying that! Something is wrong!"
"Nothing is wrong, Blue. The ship will just be in less than perfect condition." The lie was showing on her face she just knew it.
Blue started to sweat nervously and began to say something else before Yellow grabbed her shoulders. By now the lights inside the ship were blaring red and the entire interior was violently shaking.
"Blue, listen. Hold onto me."
"Wh-what?!"
"Hold onto me and don't let go!"
Before she could protest, Yellow had grabbed onto her with a vice like grip and closed her eyes tightly.
Blue could only return the desperate cling and hide her face in Yellow's shoulder as everything seemed to fall apart around them.
There was a few seconds of tense waiting, waiting for something to happen. Then it came so suddenly, it jolted the both of them out of their seats. The walls of the ship caved upon impact with the ground, electricity sparked and popped from the control board, and as quickly as it started, it stopped.
Now, there was a crater and nothing but a pile of scrap metal and parts. Nothing moved.
"Guys! Guys it came from out here!" A childish voice called out, getting closer to the wreckage.
"Steven be careful! We don't know what's in there!"
"Come on, Pearl! This is the first exciting thing that's happened in like weeks!"
"Oooh can we at least wait for Garnet?!"
"I'm right here."
Steven led the other Crystal Gems towards the Homeworld ship and started lifting up parts of the wreck, trying to find the gems inside.
"Yo! I think I found something!" Amethyst called out, throwing aside a large sheet of metal.
"Really?! what are the-" Steven gasped, his eyes going wide.
They had found Yellow, her form wavering and glitching dangerously as a result of a large crack down her gem. Her eyes were closed tightly, and she clutched a dark blue gem to her chest, refusing to let it go.
