Chapter 1

It was like every other night, we would catch the bad guys and save the day. This is the perfect definition of exciting. I became batgirl when my father was convicted of accepting bribes from a criminal, it never made any sense . I asked Batman to attend a rally that the whole city was throwing in protest for my fathers imprisonment but he denied it. I dressed up as the Bat hoping to raise more publicity. The rally didn't go as planned and in the panic Robin the Boy Wonder showed up, revealing I wasn't Batman at all. My identity wasn't exposed but my gender was, so what. From then on I worked with Batman and had the evidence to prove my father's innocence. I soon learned my comrades identity, Billionaire Bruce Wayne and the Handsome Dick Grayson. I have been working with them for about two years now and during that time Dick and I began to grow closer. We never made it official knowing Batman would disapprove because we need to "focus on the job and there's no time for love,"

The two use to get along nicely until Batman started getting more aggressive and was starting to show a more heartless side. Once when we were looking for The Joker who escaped Arkham, we were able to track down one of his goons. Batman attack the man right in front of his family and basically scary a little boy. Robin finally snapped when I almost got extremely injured during a fight. Joker had threw me off a building but lucky Robin caught me in time. After the battle Robin went off on Batman " You are the one who put her in danger!" He snarled, I step into the argument " Robin it's fine Batman would have saved me at any moment," he turns back to me and yells. " You don't know him like I do! He manipulates and pulls strings! Anything to get what he wants!" I stood silent not wanting to say anymore in fear of angering him. "The game's over Batman. I quit" and with that he disappeared into the night. Bruce and I looked all night for him but we couldn't find him. After sneaking back into my house I found a note on my bed with my name on it, I opened it and began to read the letter.

Hey Babs,
I'm sorry I didn't say goodbye but I'm leaving Gotham tonight. Don't tell Bruce about my location. I really don't want anything to do with him right now. I'm heading to Jump City in California, I'm going to try to make a living over there. If at anytime you want to join me in the town you are welcome to.

From then on things weren't the same, it felt lonely with him not around. Batman didn't waste anytime finding a replacement and took in a kid off the street. his name was Jason Todd and god he was annoying and way too flirty. I tried to get along with him but it was just too hard to when he would always have something rude to say. During a battle with the Joker the new Robin ran after him hoping to apprehend him "Robin! No!" I yelled not paying attention to the goon behind me and was knocked unconscious along with the Batman. When we both came to Jason was no where to be found. We both looked for month and yet we could find him, Batman had given up after three months but I tried my luck for about three more. One day we received a tape sent to the GCPD from the Joker. Only Batman, My father, and I saw what were on those tapes. The video was two hours long containing torturing of Robin and the video ended with The Joker walking away from a warehouse and blowing it up with Robin in it. I broke down after the video was over began crying hysterically.

After everything The Jojer had done he still wouldn't finish him off because of "The Line" he couldn't cross. I was finally done with being his sidekick I couldn't bear to be around a man with a dark presence, Bruce was quiet but he still had his sons to bring light to his life. "Bruce I'm sorry but I quit I don't know how else to say it but I hope you find that light again" I left without saying another word. When I got back home my father was sitting on the couch drinking "how long?" he asked but I didn't know what he was talking about. "What are you talking about?" he slams the glass on the table and pulls out my suit "You're Batgirl! How could you do this? How could you put yourself in danger all those times and not tell me?" he yelled "because I know you wouldn't approve of this" both of us stayed quiet for awhile trying to calm down" well you don't have to worry about me fighting with Batman anymore I quit being his sidekick just today. I'm going out of town to find the first Robin hopefully that'll bring peace to my mind".

My dad protested about me leaving but I was dead set on leaving Gotham. I left during the night so he didn't argue with me and I left him a note saying that I would be okay. I got on a train and was able to get to Jump City in three days. The first thing I did was get a hotel for the night and then I could start looking for Dick the next morning. But for some reason I just could not seem to fall asleep, I put on my Batgirl costume and went out to see if there was something I could do or someone I could save. I hopped from building to building but there was nothing so far. Maybe this city didn't need superhero's? I was turning to go back when I hear a scream that was quickly muffed. I follow the scream behind a building and stumble upon a woman getting mugged "how about you let her go?" I say throwing a batarang to the gun causing it to misfire. The mugger fleas the scene and I got to grab the bag for the woman. Something was thrown to knock the bag out of my hand, I look around trying to figure out who threw it " I don't know who you are but you need to step away from the lady" I could figure out who was there due to it being so dark out but the voice sounded familiar. "I think you are misunderstanding this situation" I say trying to for the person but when I met eyes with the shadow it was already charging towards me, the figure shoved me against the wall "no wait stop!" The woman yelled. That moment in time gave me enough time to look at the person who attacked me "Robin!" he looks at me "Batgirl!" he lets me go and I was able to return the bag back to the woman.

"Ahem" said an anonymous voice from the shadows "guys come out and say hi" when he said that four people stepped out. "So she is not a criminal?" Said a pink hair girl "ayo why does she look like Batman" said the green boy. "No she's my friend from Gotham city her and I use to be sidekicks to Batman. Everyone meet Batgirl" I looked at the remaining people who was a half robot half man and the last person was a girl in a purple cloak. "Where are you staying?" I told him I was at a hotel up the street "if you want you can come with us to our place?" I agree with his offer. Past the town near the sea there stood a build in shape of a T "oh gosh this looks amazing" we enter the building and go up the stairs leading to a living room. "I need to have a talk with Batgirl I'll be back" Robin lead me to his room and locked the door.

He takes of his mask and turns to me "how are you Babs? it's been a year what's up?" I sit down at his desk and remove my cowl "not so great to be honest. Things aren't the same without you". I explained everything that happened when he left and his face became pale when I told him what happened to Jason " What the hell Bruce" he gasped "my father figured out I was batgirl and I told him I was going to leave Gotham city. Of course he argued with me so I left in the middle of the night". Dick sat on his bed "you see now why I left. I bet he still hasn't dealt with The Joker" I shake my head no "well anyway here" he hands me some of his clothes for the night. He turns the other way so I could change and after I was done I told him to turn back around "got any sunglasses?" He points to the top drawer and when I opened it it was full of masks and a few sunglasses "really?" I chuckle as I grab a pair.

We both head back outside and I began socializing with the rest of the team. For some reason Starfire didn't really like me that much but I still tried being friendly. Beast boy and Cyborg were the jokesters so I got along with them mostly. Raven and I were on good terms, she's not that social but she did like that I knew the book she was reading. "Welp team I'm heading to bed, Batgirl you coming" I wasn't expecting to sleep with Robin but it's not really weird sometimes we would be so tired after patrol we would just pass out on the couch.

"In a bit. I just have to beat cyborg at this game" cyborg laughs "you wish little lady" after I finish first I do I little happy dance and get up "nice game Cybrog" I shake his robot arm "well since we're friends you can call me Vic when we're not doing hero business" I didn't want to tell them my identity just yet. It seems that not even Dick has shown his secret identity to anyone. I start walking to Robins room but the Tower was so big I got a little lost, Starfire walked the halls in front of me "hey Starfire. I'm having trouble finding Robins room do you know where it is?" She glared at me. "Find it yourself you are more than capable" I turn around "excuse me? What is your problem?" She doesn't respond so I continue walking to try to find it.

I finally find it and enter the room "oh you're still not asleep?" I see Dick at his desk "yeah I'm just doing a few detective work don't mind me just head to bed" I lay near the wall "come on Dick it's like twelve in the morning come to bed" he doesn't respond "I guess I'm making coffee tomorrow aren't I" I jokingly say"just go to bed Babs" I chuckled.
