Jess

I’m waiting for conditioner to set in my hair and letting warm water hit my dripping body; not all that exciting. I sing softly:

No one wants to be right as rain is falling on…

I wince at the sharp knock on my bathroom door. I hate it when people hear me sing. My mom use to tell me how beauti- Nevermind.

I make a weird grunting noise, and hear Tyler say, “hurry up! Mama needs to talk to you!” I rince of my hair and throw on a robe, figuring I may as well figure out our plans before dressing myself. Reaching the living room, I announce myself by jumping on the couch.

“So bae”, Tyler addresses me after his initial shock, “Troye and I were thinking about having some adult fun tonight. I don’t want you there; it may involve beverages. I was thinking maybe you could show Tyde around The Caye. I‘ll leave money on the counter?”

“It works for me.” I reply.

“Great!” Tyde says, he seems excited. Um… no. I’m me. I’m wearing- Wait, shit! I’m wearing a robe.

“I’ll get dressed then”, I announce turning fifty shades of red.I then proceed to walk to my room, tripping like five times and declaring that I did not.

Tyde

She walks out fifteen minutes later. I’m just sitting on the couch, because Troyler already left. She’s wearing a blue tribal print shirt and black shorts. She has an elephant backpack on. Waity wait wait! Is that a flower crown?!

“OMGG I love flower crowns!!” I scream.

“Yeah, it is”, she laughs. Damn. “So anyway, are you okay biking to town?” she questions, “there's this cute little restaurant right on the main street, but its too far away to walk.”

“Yeah, I love biking.” I watch her reach up onto a shelf, presumably to grab keys to the bike locks on the bikes tied out front. I saw them when we came in. One is blue like the color of Jess’es shirt, and vans now that I look. Aw, thats cute. The other, most likely Tyler’s, is just a mainstream shade of grey. Glancing back at Jess fumbling for keys, I catch a hint of silver on her stretched out stomach. “Is that a belly button piercing?”

“Oh, it is”, she answers blushing.

“Lemme see! Lemme see!” I man cry. She lifts up her shirt to reveal just that. “Its cute.” She blushes more. My face chooses to comfort her by morphing into the same shade.

Jess

I like Ty- nope, nope, nope. I don’t have feelings. Have I’ve been spacing out? Hes looking at me. Hes blushing. Could he like- nope. “Lets get going”, I cut through the awkward with my voice of awkward cutting knifeness.
