I never thought that going for a calming walk, would mean I would come back with someone who would never trust me again. Hayley Fields.
My name's Alec, and I am a werewolf. I don't have a mate, and I wasn't on the search for one. I am the Alpha of the Alecis pack. And Hayley is a teenager with a broken past.
*************
I woke up to the usual sound of fighting. It was Alyssa and Dylan. Seriously can't they just get along? Dylan was always causing trouble, and Alyssa hates that. Alyssa was always wearing 2 Dutch braids, jeans, and probably a loose top. I rush out of bed, and see Alyssa growling at Dylan.
"How dare you!" She hisses at Dylan, before lunging her fist at him.
"Alyssa!" I warn, coming between both of them.
"He shouldn't even be in this pack! He's-" I cut her off.
"Go outside, okay? You need to calm down." I warn, putting a hand on her shoulder.
"And remember when you were new in this pack." I say, before she walks outside.Turns out I was too late for Dylan. Alyssa had already punched him yesterday, and I hadn't noticed. So I had to go to the supermarket to get some cream for his bruise.
Outside the supermarket was a girl, she looked around my age, and she was skinny. Really skinny. Her cheeks were sucked in and you could see every individual vein on her collar bones. She had a blanket wrapped around her body, and she was sleeping. Her hair was strawberry blonde, and I could see that she had one garment on underneath the blanket. Her mouth was shivering, and her toes were red, making her hands red too. I couldn't imagine why this girl was just living on the streets. Where was her family? Did she even have a family?
People were staring at her, like she was some maggot. I looked at her in a sympathetic way. She doesn't deserve living on the streets. She should be in front of a fire, eating marshmallows.
I slowly walk past her, and go into the supermarket. I made sure to buy two sandwiches, a bottle of water, and a t-shirt. I bought her a baggy men's t-shirt, because that would be longer and warmer for her body. When I walked back out, she had her eyes open, and she was clutching her stomach.
Walking over to her with a smile, she finally pays some attention to me. She looked at my supermarket bags, with the slightest twinge of hope in her hazel eyes.
"You hungry?" I ask, trying to sound extra inviting and happy.
She shakes her head, and frowns.
"No thanks." She says. I sit down next to her, making her move over so she wasn't as close to me.
"Look, I brought you a sandwich, some water, and some clothes." I say, taking all the stuff out from my bag, and putting it in her lap. She frowns, but then it changes to a smile.
"Why, are you doing this?" She asks, opening the sandwich plastic shell.
"You looked hungry, and I had some spare money left."She nods, and takes a bite into the ham and egg sandwich. She stops eating when she realises I was watching her.
"My name's Alec. What's yours?" I ask softly. She waits for her mouthful to be finished, and then she frowns again.
"Hayley Fields." She says. Her hair was blowing in the wind, making her cheeks and ears red from the cold breeze.
"Well, I'd better go. But I'll see you around." I say, gathering the cream for Dylan out of the bag, and getting up. I had pins and needles in my feet and my hands.
"Alec?" She asks. I look behind me, and see that she's smiling. "Is that bruise cream?" Hayley looks at my hand, and another flash of hope crosses her face.
"Yes, it is." I say, softly. She nods, and looks at her hands and knees. Looking back up at me, Hayley's face saddens. I rush down to her, and see there was more then just bruises. There were scars, cuts, blood. The whole deal. I open up the cream, and hand it to her.
"Uh... how do you, you know... apply it?" She asks, holding up the cream to me.
"You get to fingers like this," I demonstrate what I meant and she nods, "and then you dip your fingers in," I say as the white cream had coated the tip of my fingers. "And aplly where necessary."She nods, and does what I did. I wipe what I had on my hands, on my shorts.
Her hands wavered over her cuts, but I shake my head, meaning she couldn't put it on her cuts. Only bruises. After she had done that, I get up.
"Thank you a lot, I mean it." She says.
"I know." I say, before putting the cream in my pockets. She smiles, and wrapped the t-shirt I had given her around her upper-body.The Pack pestered me on why I had taken so long. I just shrugged my shoulders and rushed to my room after giving Dylan the cream.
I will help Hayley tomorrow. And the day after. And the day after that.
