The next time I opened my eyes it was dark and I had an excruciating pain in my shoulder. I could barely see, because the clouds were slightly covering up the glow of the moon. I slowly looked at my shoulder only to see my flesh torn and hanging off my collarbone, this caused me to throw up in the grass beside me, only worsening my hunger. It was completely silent except for a soft rustling sound in this distance that sounded like it may be water. I used all my strength to get up and walk towards the sound, though there was absolutely nothing as far as my eye could see. The grass was hard like plastic and air felt artificial, as if I were walking on the set of a play. No birds flew over head, no stars lit up the sky, no wind blew through to cool the stagnant sweat on my face. I had entered a valley to nowhere, alone and lost and in shock. It took me a couple of glances to remember that my Jack was gone, and every time I remembered, I stopped to wince in pain. I walked until my feet were numb and the sun began to rise, blinding me. I walked for so long I could no longer see the wall behind me and I was alone among the valley with no sense of direction, until suddenly, a sound emerged from beyond. Screaming. It was Jack, a corpse running right towards me. I stopped in shock and let him catch me, just as I reached out to him he dissipated into thin air and I felt myself become dizzy. I started to spin in circles, hallucinating from the heat and lack of food or water and the painful reality that my best friend was really dead. The world tilted up on its side before my head met the grass with a painful thud and I lie there in my own blood, until the sky was dark once again.
