The taxi ride seemed to last hours instead of thirty minutes that it was. Fletcher looked out of the window beside him and watched the trees go by. He didn't really pay attention to what they were, or the taxi driver's constant rambling, and was instead in his own reality. He remembered why his father sent him away without his consent. In a way, he wished he didn't, but he couldn't forget. It scarred him, and a scar can't disappear.
"Grimsby?" The driver said, and Fletcher's head popped up when his name was spoken. He looked away from the window and instead forward where the driver was. "We're here, sir."
Fletcher ran his hand through his bright blonde hair, making it dirtier because of the dirt his hand had on it. To be honest, he was nervous. Ever since his mother had gone mad he promised to never associate himself with dark magic, and here he was, going to a school where he was going to be taunt to defend himself from it. What he would find there was a complete mystery. The building was just built, and he would one of the first people to visit.
He looked out the window, and instead of trees he saw a large castle-like school building. Moss covered it head to toe on the sides, the top points sharp enough to puncture anyone that tried to mess with them. The bricks were freshly put together but they looked older than he was. The many windows reflected the sun, making it sparkle and light up even more. It was a huge school building, far bigger than he expected for a few students. It reminded him of Hogwarts, and he wondered how much time it was before he got his owl.
The taxi turned on the driveway and started to slow down. Soon, the taxi stopped and the driver got out. Fletcher unbuckled the seatbelt, and the driver came all the way around to the right side of the taxi, and opened his door. Once Fletcher came out of the cab, the driver brought him his luggage. He hadn't brought much with him because he barely had any time to pack. Only clothes, cell phone and his favorite book, his only real essentials.
He pulled his suitcase behind him as he walked towards the castle, looking around. There were three people around him. The first was a dark haired girl held up in a bun, holding a duffel bag around her arm, and Fletcher wondered how she could fit all of her stuff in that small bag. She looked more fascinated about the place then him. The second person was a boy with brown hair who looked a little older than him. Even from a distance Fletcher could tell that he was taller than him, and he was carrying a rolling suitcase, just like him. That last person was a girl with wavy blonde hair. She was walking right next to the other boy, and compared to him, she was tiny. Instead of just marveling at the sight, however, she occasionally pulled her phone out and took pictures. Fletcher noticed he was staring at the three much longer than he thought he was when the girl with blonde hair turned her head and looked back at him. Fletcher quickly looked back forward, embarrassed.
Fletcher reached the door of the school at the same time as the girl with black hair, and as she reached for the door handle at the same time as he did, she stopped and quickly apologized, backing up. "Sorry, you do it."
Fletcher nodded in thanks, but in reality, he was nervous to be the first person to go into the school. However, right when he turned the door handle, it sung open right in front of him. Both of them jumped back, surprised that it moved inwards instead of out.
Holding the door stood a tall man, much taller than the pair. He had round glasses on that folded onto his shirt if he took them off, and looked in about his mid-thirties. There was no grey hair on his head, and no ring on his hand. He smiled at them, laughing. "I am terribly sorry, dears. I was supposed to greet the new students this year, but I guess I was a little late." The man directed his attention from the pair to behind them instead. "Are you six the only ones?"
