Once upon a time there was a girl named Maya.
She was selfish, gorgeous and - above all - a vampire. She was indeed the most cruel and attractive vampire the world had ever seen.
Maya lived alone in Red Village, a small city near New York, after having left her family in Alaska when she had become a vampire one hundred years earlier.
One night, when she was driving her black Jaguar, she saw a boy walking on the bridge.
He was the strangest, most attractive and most human she had ever seen.
He had long black hair, which blended with the darkness of the night, and big green eyes. Their eyes met. They looked at each other for a long time, her first instinct was to bite the boy's neck and leave him to die, but that purpose was replaced by the need of wanting to know the boy, a feeling of attraction the boy had caused in her. They didn't look away from each other until the boy looked away first, then got in his grey BMW and drove away.
Maya was literally haunted by the young man she had seen that night. She couldn't stop thinking about him, she needed him, like a vampire needs blood.
The following evening Maya saw the boy with the long black hair again. After that night, she had seen him very often, but every time when the distance between them decreased, Maya always felt a strong sense of nausea, her skin felt like it was burning, and the feeling of deterioration of internal organs. The boy's father was the owner of the largest garlic factory in the city. In fact, Heathcliff, that was his name, was in charge within the family businesses to sort out garlic braids that could be sold from those that had to be thrown away.
He always had the nauseating smell of garlic because of his job.
The discomfort that Maya felt when the boy approached her was just that, and it didn't let the vampire stay anywhere near him.
They had fallen in love, but they couldn't be together because of him.
The boy didn't understand the reason why the girl didn't want to be with him. Maya left Heathcliff and fled the city.
They stopped seeing each other for a long time.
They kept on with their lives, Maya killing humans and drinking their blood, and Heath running the family business, where he had become the owner. After ten years, Maya met him again, in the same place where they met for the first time, on the bridge. Maya was always the same, she hadn't aged. Heath, however, always with his long black hair, but wrinkles on his face.
The attraction between the two was inevitable, their love wasn't over, it was stronger than before. Maya could not afford to lose him again, and for this reason she decided to ask her friend, a witch, for a spell to let her touch her love. The witch agreed and made the spell. Maya and Heath started to see each other again, but only at night because Maya couldn't go out in the sun. The boy got suspicious, he thought that his girlfriend was a supernatural creature . These thoughts were immediately blocked, she couldn't be a vampire, he was just raving. The boy, however, wasn't convinced and decided to test his girlfriend. He spiked her drink with a large quantity of a plant, hawthorn, that the legend said to be deadly poisonous for vampires, and made her drink. She drank it and suddenly began to burn, to deteriorate. He was desperate and he didn't believe that he had led Maya to die, and for this he decided to let her drink his blood. Maya bit his neck, but before his death, she decided to turn him into a vampire. The two vampires then apologized to each other, Maya for not having told the truth and Heath for not having trusted her. He was turned into a vampire by the woman he loved. Maya, instead, was turned by a vampire called Patrick, whom she wanted to kill, because before turning into a vampire she was a supernatural creature hunter and Patrick decided to turn her into a vampire to protect instead.
