Author's Note (A/N): This story is still in progress. The title is temporary. I just uploaded it here in Wattpad to get feedbacks. It would help me decide if I should continue or scrap this story. I have been trying to write this since January 2012 but I just can't find enough time to do so.
Anyway, enjoy! Do click "like" and "vote", and write a comment (maybe answering my question if I should continue or scrap this story). Thank you!
Chapter 1
The night is cold and dark. The streets are deserted. Everyone must have gone home. I walked through the streets and saw a girl heading through an alley. She looks familiar. I followed her out of curiosity and safety. A young girl walking alone in a dark alley?! God knows how dangerous that is.
The alley is as darks as the streets. The only source of light are the windows of the apartments in the buildings. Oh God! How could she walk through this alley. Where are her parents? They should never let a child walk alone at this time of the night. I walked faster and approached the girl when I noticed two men arguing on the other end of the alley. I walked faster than ever to reach the girl and pull her out of this alley. The girl stopped and turned around. She might have noticed the two men. I was near her when I had a good look on her face.
My heart stopped at that moment.
She looked like me. A twin. A replica. We have the same brown eyes, light brown hair, straight nose, and heart-shaped face. This girl is me. A younger version of me.
I wasn’t able to move or speak. She started walking towards me when we both heard a gunshot. Our body froze. We both looked at the two men. One was pointing a gun and the other one was lying on the ground. Blood was seeping out of the man on the floor.
The girl screamed. The man with the gun looked at the girl and pointed the gun at her. I tried grabbing the girl but my body is dead beat frozen. I can’t move. I tried shouting at her but it was no use. My throat dried up. Somebody save this girl.
Suddenly, the window lights got opened. I saw the man’s face. Then the lights hit my eyes. I blinked my eyes several times. And when I was able to see, I’m back in a familiar place. I’m in my room now.
I tried catching my breath. I was panting heavily. Cold sweats are starting to drip from my forehead.
What in the world is that dream about?!
I stood up and looked at my SpongeBob alarm clock. It says 6:00 AM. I better start jogging. I still have a flight to catch later.
I went inside the bathroom and changed into my favorite jogging shorts, yellow tank top and gray sleeveless SpongeBob hoodie. I washed my face, brushed my teeth and tied my long brown hair into a high ponytail.
Today I’ll be leaving for Seattle. I’ going to my family’s ancestral home. It belonged to my grandparents since 1930s. Dad said that a year after my grandmother died, we moved out to San Francisco. Grandfather died six year before grandmother so the house went to Aunt Leana.
But Aunt Leana died ten years ago. She died with her husband, Uncle Mark, and only child, Ciara. They died on a car accident. I was with them in that accident. Mom said that we always stay with them during Christmas break then for New Year, we would all fly here to celebrate. But on that day, I was left with my Aunt and her family. My parents had to go back to San Francisco earlier to prepare things. I was left to stay since I insisted on going to a party of one of Ciara’s friend. Ciara and I have been best of friends since we were kids. She’s of the same age as I am. Mom said that we were like twins, very inseparable.
On our way to the airport, a truck came out from the east side of the intersection. It hit the side of our car. The car drifted towards an electric post. All I remember from the incident was Aunt Leana calling mine and Ciara’s name and Ciara hugging me tightly. The car swirled before hitting the post. My head bumped on the window badly. Everything went black. I could feel a thick liquid dripping from my forehead.
