The visit

Part II

(Dakota's POV)

(8pm) We're finally done shooting for today and I feel exhausted. After we filmed the cemetery scene Jamie was trying to come out as strong but as soon as we got in the backseat of our car he just started crying and that broke my heart.  – Shh baby, it's okay, I know this was hard.

– I'm sorry Dakota. – The thing is, Jamie apologizes for everything and crying isn't something he's used to do and when he does, he always apologizes.

– Hey, you know you're not supposed to say sorry when you cry, right? – That gets him to smile a little so I hold his face between my hands and look into his eyes. – I love you and I'm sure your mom is so proud of you, you're an incredible person, kind and loving, you have two beautiful little girls Jamie, and for all that's worth, you have me, even if it's in such weird circumstances. – He grabs my hands and just hugs me for what feels like minutes.

– How are you even real? – He says while he's still holding me and once he lets go I see hope, for what I don't know. I honestly love this man and he's one of the strongest people I know.

– Come, we should head home, your place or mine?

– Actually, I'm going on a date with this incredible and gorgeous woman so I'm not having dinner with you.

– Hold up a second, what? Jamie? Why are you so serious? – Desperation was all over my face and seconds later he's laughing his ass off and I'm furious, what does he mean "incredible and gorgeous", I'm all that and more and it's not me who he's taking on a "date". – What the actual fuck Jamie!?

– Wait wait. – He says almost out of breath because he's still laughing. – It's your mom love, she asked me to have dinner with her.

– My mom? – Why would she ask him to have dinner with her and more importantly, why not invite me? – I think to myself, or did I say that out loud?

– Yeah, you did but don't be jealous, you'll always be my fave Johnson. – He reaches for my cheek and kisses it. – I'll be home soon.

–      But she's a Griffith! – I only have time to say that before he heads out to his car, leaving me all alone in the backseat with my driver.

(11pm) It's been 3 hours and as soon as Jamie left me I called my mom but as expected, she didn't answer me. I decide trying to call Jamie now when all of a sudden him and my mom enter the room. – Hey, how was your date? – I admit, I shouldn't be acting this way, jealous and all but I can't help it, all I wanted to do was be by his side today and he chose my mom.

– It was amazing honey, Jamie here is an incredible person. – Mom fell for the Dornan effect, great.

– What's with you both and the "incredible person"? Jeez, you might as well spend the rest of the night together, and the days after. – Jamie opens his mouth but my mom starts talking first.

– Dakota Mayi, careful with your words and take it easy with him. I'm leaving, I'll be back tomorrow to say goodbye before I head to the airport so I'll see you soon. Jamie, darling, it was a pleasure.

– I'm sure it was. – I say under my breath hoping neither of them would hear me but mom knows best and if looks could kill I'd be in trouble right now. – I'm sorry mama, I love you and I'll see you tomorrow.

– Goodbye honey, and Jamie, careful with my jealous daughter.

Jamie says goodbye but doesn't laugh at her comment like he normally would. Good. Now I want explanations.

– So... – He starts talking but he probably doesn't know what to say so I cut him some slack and ask what I wanna know.

           

– I'm not mad you and mom went out for dinner, I'm not mad you called it a date, I just wanted to be by your side today, support you and I know I was the one that asked her to come and help me but, idk, I just thought we'd be together today and that I would be by your side. – He reaches out and wipes a tear I didn't realize had fallen down my cheek.

– Come, let's go sit on the sofa. – I follow him cause I don't have the energy to argue with him. – Look, your mom wanted to talk to me, she was really nice and it was good to have a motherly figure here, while I'm away from home. It's also good to hear her say that I'm a part of your family and that she'll always have my back, well, unless I hurt you which, btw, will never happen. – That makes me chuckle and that earns me a cheeky smile from Jamie that I adore so much. – I do love you Dakota, and it'll always be you by my side and me by yours, always, never doubt that. I'm here now and I wouldn't have it any other way.

By this point my face was covered in tears and I know I was being stupid by acting the way I did. – I'm sorry Jamie, I'm here acting up when I shouldn't, I mean you went to dinner with my mom and I'm actually glad you did, I'm sorry baby, I'm glad you had a great time. But I'm also glad you're home now. – And with that him and I start laughing. He kisses me softly but passionately but breaks it soon after. The confused look on my face makes him chuckle again.

– You really are jealous, even of your mom.

– Oh shut up, I'm not jealous, I just don't like her stealing you from me. You and your Dornan effect can get anyone. – He shakes his head and leans to me once again and we end up spending a great night, forgetting all that had happened that day.
