This was a beautifully animated movie. Another smash hit from Disney. Disney has learned from its mistakes with portraying native people. Disney had many Pacific Islanders help with this project which really showed. One of the only problems I saw with the way they were portrayed was they were still obsessed with coconuts, but that could just be a nit pick.
The plot was your standard buddy comedy. Some people said they called the ending but personally, i had no idea. The animation was absolutely stunning. The Rock and Auli'i Carvalho gave amazing performances and our main characters. The score written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa'i, and Mark Mancina is one of my favorite parts of the movie. The songs might not be as catchy as Frozen, but the soundtrack IS WAY BETTER.
It's nice to see a strong independent girl on screen who isn't trying too hard to be one. She is by far one of the best role models for girls that Disney has put out.
Overall this is a fantastic movie, I would definitely watch again. it was totally worth seeing in theaters. recommended for kids and adults. 8/10 stars
