Jack's pov

I was in Mark's arms half asleep when I heard him say he would protect me. After hearing that Mark, L.A.'s finest detective was protecting me, I calmed down. I could fall asleep know that I had a protector.

I wish I could really believe that. Mark has no idea what he's up against. Anti is a ruthless killer who won't hesitate to kill anyone. Although he would never admit it I think Anti thinks of me as his only friend. Anti and I were locked up in the L.A. mental health facility. I was diagnosed with m.p.d. but I knew better Anti had begun talking to me when I was around age four. People were cruel to him because he was evil. I saw more in him than that he was just a demon and I was right, although he'll never admit it I know that Anti see's me as his only friend.

Time Skip

I woke up on a surprisingly comfortable couch. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and looked around the room. "Mark..?" I asked groggily. "Yes, Jack?" Mark asked from across the room behind his desk. " Where am I?" I asked groggily. His smile grew a little. "We are in my office." He said softly. It took a second for me to realize. "Oh... WAIT! I AM IN MARK FISCHBACH'S OFFICE?!?!" "Yes." He responded calmly.

Mark's pov

"Shhhh!" I hushed him, smiling at his childishness. I got a call on the office phone. "Hello?" I asked. "Hello, sir are you done watching the prime suspect sleep, because we have work to do?" I heard Felix say over the phone before feeling my face turn bright red. "Yes they are awake, and I wasn't watching for no reason. I didn't want him to wake up and cause trouble." I protested. "Sure, we'll go with that. Anyways, there was a message instead of the three letters, and we need you to analyze this." I sighed looking at the adorable Jack with star filled eyes as he views the room around him. "Ok fine I'll be there in a second." I hung up the phone. I have to go work on the "A" case so someone else will be in here for a while to watch you, but I'll be back soon." I said walking towards the door. "Ok." He said clearly disappointed.

I walked out of the room, and told Felix that I would take over where he was working, and asked that he watched Jack. He politely agreed and walked towards my office. I felt strangely aggressive towards Felix, curious what would go on while I wasn't watching Jack. "Mark?" Wade my partner on this case asked. "Oh.. yeah I'm here," I responded snapping out of my trance.

The clues from the last murder are basically the same thing except the usual letter has a message for a certain "Dark" character. DARK?!?! I thought to myself. "I need to read that immediately," I said firmly. "Yes, sir" Wade went to get the letter. I was petrified what If Dark had been part of the murders? Wade returned with the message and handed it to me. I read it out loud. "Dear L.A.P.D I advise you to air this over the news, or fear for your life because I will come for you next. Dear, Dark I enjoyed our game of cat and mouse quite a lot and I would love nothing more than to meet. I will be waiting tomorrow night where we had our first kiss. I'll see you then -Anti"
