It thundered loudly. Alicia shuddered. She was afraid of that kind of nights. It was 1 o'clock at night and she was busy in her office work. Her husband had gone to bed long ago while she was still trying to complete her work. Sky was covered with dark clouds and it was raining heavily. She didn't like rain because of that day...
She sighed, didn't want to remember that day. The day when her ex husband died. Whenever she thought about that night, she felt so lost. She tried so hard to forget everything, every dark memory to start her new life peacefully but she couldn't...
She couldn't forget Him. His peaceful smile, His graceful eyes and everything related to him, kept haunting her dreams. He was so perfect. She hadn't known anyone more perfect than him. But He died...
Now living with James, her new husband, was a bit awkward for her or the fact that they were living in the same apartment where she and Edward lived. Did she miss him? She didn't know but the fact that he didn't let her work late at night and also made coffee for her every evening kept shattering her soul.
She left a sigh. She had to move on because that was what James demanded from her: move on. But how? how could she forget everything?
Her hands trembled and she wiped off the tears sliding on her cheeks. James will not be glad if he see me crying... especially over Edward. He would be mad. She told herself.
She started working again. She tried to forget everything. The thunder roared again. She trembled inside. She was always afraid of the night like this. She moved her head towards the window of the room to see the rain spitting on the glass of window.
'Will Edward let me work at this time? No of course not.' She asked particularly none and then answered herself. She took a very deep sigh and looked at the door of her bedroom where James was sleeping peacefully. Edward didn't let her do overwork. He would be the one doing her work instead of her but in James case... she sighed again. He was sleeping carelessly or more like selfishly. She couldn't blame him because James also worked hard or that was what he say.
'I work so hard only because of you but you're so ungrateful!' She remembered him saying.
But did Edward also say that? No. He even didn't say 'no' to her in his whole life; a few years he got from the God to live on. She didn't remember him refusing her on anything. He was always her special. She was always his special. They completed each other but she was so ungrateful. She regretted now.
She rubbed her temples. She should work hard. She was running out of money. James was more like jobless. He didn't do any work except sleeping all day and gambling all of her money at night with his friends. Ah! but man! he didn't accept it. He always said that he went out to work at his nightshift. She didn't tell him that she had already seen him in the club that night, gambling all of her money.
She couldn't say anything to him. She couldn't blame him. She couldn't.... because this was her fault. Her fault.
She sighed again and rested her head on her arms.
Suddenly, the light of the living room flickered where she was sitting. She narrowed her eyes. Maybe it's because of the rain, she thought. She was afraid of the dark. She even couldn't sleep without turning on the light of her room. James hated it but Edward loved it. Ah! Edward...
It flickered again and suddenly all of the bulb turned off leaving her in utter darkness. She hated being alone in the dark all alone especially on a thundering night like this. If she called James, he would scold her for acting like a little girl. She didn't want to interrupt his sleep. He wouldn't like it. He sucked at handling tempers. She tried to walk to find her mobile in the dark but she couldn't. She stumbled on something and fell.
