The land was once a dark place
where only death reigned at night,
then a chariot drove across the sky.
Drawn by four silver horses,
this was the goddess Selene,
sister of the sun and the dawn.
Her light reflected the seas
and cast light on the darkest of nights.
After that day no one feared the night,
for a moon hung over head,
a moon drawn by Selene,
the goddess of the moonlight.
