There, in a dark room, is a boy.
He has woken up alone, confused, scared.
His mind is lost within the darkness, his traces not found.
He wonders, "How did I get here?"
"Where was I before?"
"What is going on?"
A million questions swarm through his head; he finds no answer to any of them.
He looks around and takes in his surrounding.
Dark.
Dark here.
Dark there.
Darkness everywhere.
Then, he hears voices, whispering his name, shouting his name; calling him forth.
"What do you want?!" He shouts back at the voices, getting louder and more clearer, sounding as if they are nearing him.
"Why am I here?!" Again, he shouts.
The voices get louder, louder, louder, until his ears start to hurt.
His head is swimming in pain and confusion, his thoughts clouded.
He hears screaming and crying, but he doesn't know from who or why.
"Make it stop. Make it stop!" He tries to block out the noises.
Suddenly, the noises stop.
"What is there to stop?" a feminine voice whispers sweetly by his hair, floating around him, her light fingertips caressing his cheek for a mere second.
"I have done nothing wrong? What is there to stop?" It asks again, sweet as ever.
The boy catches a glimpse of the maiden with the melodic voice as she moves around; her being the only light source in the dark, unknown place.
She looked around his age,
Wavy dark brown hair with black roots, green-blue eyes with bright yellow irises, dark, luscious lashes, pale, ivory skin, full pink lips, high cheekbones, and wearing a long, flowy, navy robe with a thin black belt around her waist...
She was magnificently beautiful.
He thought, "What would she be doing here, alone, in the darkness?"
"She's enchanting... I've never seen any girl like her before."
She turns around to face the boy and laughs, "What are you staring at?"
The boy blushes, "N-nothing..."
She laughs even more, the boy thinking, "She has a great laugh..."
"Why, thank you..." She giggles.
"Did I say that out loud?"
The maiden nods, smiling, "You did..."
He blushes again, she giggles, then pulls a serious face, "You know, boy? You aren't allowed here."
He looked up, curious as to why she said that, "What?"
She floats a foot away, then speaks, "I do not know why and how you are here before me, but you are not permitted to be on these grounds. It is not where you are meant to be. Unless..."
"Unless? Unless what? Why must I not be here? Where in the world am I anyway?!" The boy was getting frustrated.
The maiden sighs, whispering, "Aye, it must be true... It must be."
She turns to face him again, floating back toward him; he takes a step back, afraid of what will happen.
"Do you know where you are?" She asks cautiously.
He shakes his head 'no'.
The maiden sighs again, "Do you know who you are?"
The boy starts to think,
"The voices earlier were calling a name that was familiar... And I answered."
"Who am I?"
"Why is that name so familiar?"
"You do not know who you are, do you?" The maiden snaps the boy out of his thoughts.
He shoots his head up, looking at the floating maiden who's face is slightly above his head, "I-I think I know who am...?"
Her eyes light up for a second before dying out, "What do you mean 'you think you know'?"
He takes a deep breath, "T-those voices... From earlier, they called me a-a name... It was slightly familiar and I answered without realization."
"And.. What was that name?" The maiden's toes hover just a couple of inches above the ground, her face lined up with the boy's.
"Michael." The boy breathed out.
The maiden smiles and floats a foot away again, whispering to herself, "He knows... It's all coming back to him. I knew he was the one..."
She's still smiling when she floats back to the boy, "Well... What else do you know?"
He thinks for a moment before speaking, "Um... nothing more, really. Just that."
Right when he said that, visions swam through his head, making him dizzy.
He stumbled a bit, but was held by the maiden, "Are you alright?"
He nods, "Visions..."
She lets him go, "What did you see? What visions were there?"
He closes his eyes and thinks of one of the visions brought back to him.
"I-I heard music. Wonderful music. I saw three friendly faces and I heard the most beautiful voice singing." The boy's eyes are still closed.
"Yes? Anything else? Do you remember who you are?" The maiden steps onto the ground, looking up to the boy because of their height difference.
"I-I... I see... Long brown hair. Singing a familiar song. Beautiful. She's beautiful." He smiles, "She has her back towards me... I can't see her face." He furrows his eyebrows in frustration.
The maiden smiles, "Do you know her? Do you know yourself?"
The boy takes a moment to think, seeing ocean-like eyes in his mind and in front of him. Realization hitting him, his eyes widen, "You're... You're her. The girl."
She giggles, "Yes, you've found me... Now how about you. You've been ignoring my question. What is your identity?"
He pauses, "I..."
"I'm Michael?" It came out more of a question than a statement.
She nods, "Yes. You've found out..."
Her smile soon fades, "What's wrong?" The boy asks.
She shakes her head, "There is a lot that is wrong."
"What do you mean?" He asks, curious.
"There will be... Dangers. Misfortune. Negative things will happen. I do not think you are capable of what you'll witness. I do not think you should go back, back to being happy." She frowns.
"Why mustn't I be happy? Why shouldn't I go back? Please, tell me why!" He shouts.
"I-I... I cannot," She floats away, "It isn't yet time... and you are not ready for these... horrible, horrible things."
She pauses, "There is evil looking for you, coming for you. Not only is there evil, there is sadness and tragedies. I do not think you are well enough to take on the real world, the place to make you 'happy', as they say..."
