My white van pulled up to the curb, making a swift turn to the left, and started down the newly opened lane. I peered out of the car's windshield, trying to look out for any pale brick houses with teal grey roofing and a white porch. It took me until the end of the road to find it, parking the van in the freshly made drive way. My flats slapped against the smooth asphalt as I slammed the car door behind myself while stepping out of the driver's seat. I briskly walked to the back of the van, opening up the double doors of the trunk, revealing all of my moving boxes. I looked inside my purse to find the home keys I was given, as well as the papers to clarify my entrance to the home, and walked with the same amount of motivation to the door. I grabbed the keys from my purse and then shoved them into the keyhole and twisted.
There was a satisfying, 'pop,' before the door opened with a slight creek and let in the outside sun through the doorway. I nod to myself in satisfaction before going back over to the back of the van and grabbed a box labeled Artwork. The keys jingled a small uneven tune in my hands as I bounced around, trying to balance the cardboard box in my hands as I walk up to the front again, placing the box down near the entrance of the house. I stood straight up and stretched my back out until it cracked, and then sighed.
"Geez, if I knew moving would be so hard I would have reconsidered..." I mumbled to myself jokingly with a half smile, trying to stay positive. I turned on my heel and headed back down to the driveway until I suddenly noticed a voice coming from behind the van. I stop, then speed-walk over to the trunk, only to find a young woman with midnight hair and tan skin standing there with a content smile to herself. She was talking to herself. I go up closer, feeling a bit annoyed, but mostly nervous, when she starts to beam and began to introduce herself.
"Hello there! My name is Aphmau, and I moved here on the Lane too! I didn't recognize the car, since a bunch of my friends and boyfriend are moving here too, and so I just had to check it out!" the newly named Aphmau explains, her hands moving in accordance to her thoughts that were spewing out of her mouth like lightning. "What's your name?" she curiously inquires. I could only feel my throat close up on me, my shoulders hunching slightly before settling back down. I let out a breath of air and forced a smile to breathe life on my face.
"I'm... so sorry, but I can't talk right now. I'm trying to unpack, and, y'know how awful that can be?" I paused to awkwardly chuckle. God, I'm such an idiot. "Anyway. I'm sure you're a nice person, just..."
Aphmau nodded with a giant smile, closing her eyes tenderly and clapping her hands together. "Sure, that's fine! Do you want help?" she suggests. I wave my hands around, anxiousness filling my chest even more.
"N-No! I'm fine by myself! I'm pretty strong, so there's no need!" I gloated lightly. I will admit, it's nice to be around other humans again... I admitted to myself. Aphmau giggled, and nods in content.
"If it's fine with you, then it's fine with me! See you around, uh-?" she juts off for me to fill in as she starts to walk away with a wave. I was reluctant, but she's going to be my neighbor, so it would be suspicious if I kept avoiding my name.
"Uh... Jennavier," I finish simply. I wave back at her until she faces forward and starts crossing the street.
I sighed once more before looking inside the van's trunk and picked up another box, then carried it all the way to the main room of the house. I dropped it on the ground, and wiped off the small amount of sweat already forming on my forehead. I was about to head back to the van to get more boxes, when I bumped into someone on my way out, dropping my keys and feeling a slight pain in my elbows as I landed on the hard wood floor. Familiar with the sensation of pain, I winced as there was a 'thud' and I felt pins and needles sprint up and down my elbows and lower arms. I look up to find a guy with Persian blue hair and cobalt blue eyes, his locks messy from our collision.
