I was sitting at the kitchen table, when I heard Dean shout, "going out to go grab some pie. You need anything?"
"I'm good!" I call back, and I hear him going up the stairs, then out the bunker door. I get up from my seat in the kitchen and head to the library. I needed to do some research for the case we were on, but I had different ideas. As I sit down at the table, I pull out a copy of Supernatural, the Book. I'd decided that it was time to read them, as they were about Dean and I's life. As I leafed through the pages, my mind began to wander. Somehow, I got to thinking about Cas. He hadn't come around the bunker in a while, I wonder what he'd been doing? Was he avoiding me? I thought, even though I hadn't done anything. I started to think about how I felt about him, but then I shut those thought away. No, I told myself, I can't feel that way about Castiel. He's like a brother to us.
All of a sudden, a voice startled me out of my thoughts, making me jump out of my chair, and almost fall. "Hey Sam."
But before I could hit the ground, someone grabbed me by the shoulders.
"Cas? What are you doing here?" I said, the surprise still colouring my voice.
"Just wanted to come visit. What are you reading?"
I blushed, and grabbed the book before he could. "It's nothing."
"Let me see it!" Cas exclaimed, surprisingly.
I sighed in frustration. "Fine. Here," I passed him the book.
"Supernatural?" Cas questioned, cocking his head to the left in confusion.
I looked at my shoes. "Y-yeah I just wanted to see uh, what it was like from a different perspective, that's all,"
Cas shrugged, then set the book down. He looked around then asked, "where's Dean?"
"He just went to the store to grab some pie. We're working a case here in town," I explained.
"What do you think it is?" He asked.
"We're think a werewolf, but we don't know for sure yet." I said, pulling out my chair again.
"Want to do some research with me?" I asked, not expecting him to say yes.
Cas nodded, then pulled out the chair beside me. "Sounds like you'll need my help."
I passed him a pile of books, and I pull out my computer, so I could show him the victims. After a few minutes of us sitting there in silence, Cas clears his throat, and looks in my direction. "Yeah, Cas?" I say, expecting him to ask a question.
"Why are the victims all Female?" Cas asked curiously.
I shrugged my shoulders. "We have no idea yet, but we have to keep digging. We're pretty stumped."
Cas bobbed his head, then went back to his work. After about ten minutes of easy silence, the bunker door opens to a very un-happy Dean. "I'm guessing they didn't have any pie?" I asked, not even looking up from my computer screen.
Dean grunts, then descends the stairs.
"Cas," he nods towards him, then walks to the kitchen.
Once Dean had exited the library, Castiel leaned over the table and said quietly, "I think Dean might be a bit angry."
I chuckled softly, then said, "yeah, I guess you could say that. I'll bet he's in the kitchen trying to find a recipe so he can make it himself."
Cas nodded, as if he understood. "So, the Female victims all had their hearts ripped out?" He questioned.
"Yeah, but there were no obvious claw marks around the wound, and it seemed as if it was surgically removed," I showed him a picture of one of the victims.
He nodded, then said, "it could just be a human serial Killer,"
I shook my head. "Nothing weird happens around here, I have a feeling about this, it just feels right."
As I finished my sentence, Dean huffs out of the kitchen covered in flour, looking aggravated. "I hate baking." He huffs out, sending a cloud of flour into the air.

I chuckle, then sigh. "What could this be? I've already ruled out a werewolf, because it was too clean a cut for it to be their claws."

Cas shrugged, then stood up slowly. "I don't know what this is, we'll have to dig deeper, somehow."

dean huffed again, then strode out of the room. "I'm going to go get changed," he murmured as he went past.

I just shook my head, chuckling softly. I pulled the laptop towards me, and started to get back to researching the case, and it's victims. There had to be something supernatural about this, I thought to myself. Cas then walked over and pulled out a chair next to me, and sat down. "Do you still want my help with this?" He asked.

"Yeah, of course I still want your help. Now, what kind of question is that?" I joked.

"Yes, sorry. I will help you then. What can I do to help?" he said sheepishly.

I cleared my throat, then proceeded to say, "What I would like you to do is for you to try and find any connection to the female victims, other than that they are all of the same gender. If you could do that, that would be great."

Cas nodded, then pulled out a brand new laptop, and set it on the table. "Do you think you could help me set this up first? I cannot figure out how."

I laughed out loud. "Of course, Cas. When did you get this, anyways?"

He shrugged sheepishly. "I-uh, just decided that I needed one if I was going to become a hunter like you and Dean."

I shrugged, then pulled his laptop towards me, so I could get a better look at it. I showed him where and what information he had to put in, but when they asked his gender, he said, "I don't really have a definite Gender. Although my vessel is male, my angelic form does not have a definite gender."

I covered my mouth in attempt to hold in the laugh that was building in my chest. With great effort, I held my composure. "What would you put then?"
Castiel shrugged his shoulders. "It would be acceptable to put the Gender of my Vessel in."
At this point my composure dropped, and I chuckled. Cas looked at me, then gave me a shy grin. I continued filling in his information, but when we came up to putting in a last name, he hesitated. "I-I don't have a last name." He muttered quietly.
"Cas, you do have one. You are our family, right? You're Castiel Winchester. Don't doubt your place with Dean and I, your all we have now." I stated, getting a little to heated about it.
Cas looked shocked, but also really happy. "I'm glad you consider me apart of your family Sam, I wouldn't doubt it for a second. So it's okay if I put down Winchester?"
I nodded. "Of course, if your comfortable using it."
He grinned at me, with ecstatic pleasure, and typed in Winchester as his last name. "So, is that all I need to make this computer work?" Cas asked.
"Yeah, your good to go bud." I chuckled, handing him his laptop back.
"Oh, and your password has to be set up. I didn't want to ask you to put it in in front of me, but it's right there as soon as you open it."
He nodded, and accepted his Laptop back. "Thanks Sam, I really appreciate the help."
Surprisingly for me, Castiel leaned in and hugged me. "U-uh, Cas? This is uh, new," I stuttered.
He pulled away, grinning. "I'm learning how to express emotions, did I do okay?"
I laughed quietly, looking down to my feet. I look up and say, "you did great Cas, your getting better at it."
He nodded, still smiling this stupid grin. "Thanks Sam." Then left to go back to the room we had given him in the bunker. He abruptly stopped, and turned around slightly to look at me."I'll start on connections to the victims for you, I'll let you know if I find anything."
I laughed shakily, still a little rattled from the unexpected hug from Cas. "Alright, just shout if you need anything,"
He smile crookedly, then proceeded to go back to his room.
