"Hey, Moon?" the edgy blonde asked, getting her attention.
"Yes, Gladion?" the Champion of Alola responded, curiosity apparent as to why he would want her attention. They were on their way to the Marina so Gladion could return to Aether Paradise, where he would fill in for Lusamine as president as usual. They had been at the malasada shop with Hau for some malasadas, along with Lillie who had returned from Kanto the previous month. Moon, being the Champion, never usually had the time off to reconnect with her friends, but Professor Kukui let her off on vacation while some construction was getting underway at the Pokémon League. Since it had been ages since Moon had last seen the old Team Skull Enforcer, she decided to follow him to the Marina, even though he was hesitant in accepting until a few remarks from a furious Lillie set him in the right direction.
Speaking of being hesitant, he was slow in confessing his request to her, "I know that it's your vacation from the Pokémon League and all, and that there's probably so much you want to do while you have the time, but I was wondering if you could help me with something."
Moon's eyes lit up, like a Youngster receiving a new pair of shorts, "Really? Like what?!"
Gladion looked away from her, though she didn't know if it was out of disgust or embarrassment, "I-I was wanting to know if you could help out at the Aether Foundation tomorrow."
'Gladion... stuttered? What in Arceus?' Moon thought, "Well of course I can help!" she beamed, still wondering why Gladion had trouble asking this of her. Couldn't he just accept the fact that they were friends now, and that she clearly was okay with helping him out every once in awhile?
It was Gladion's turn to reply to her with, "R-really?"
Moon once again questioned why the heck her favorite edgelord was embarrassed. Like, why in the world would Gladion be embarrassed around her? She knew it couldn't be because of her title. They had already established that she didn't want anyone to treat her any differently, so why was he stuttering?
"Well yeah!" Moon exclaimed, skipping in front of him while facing him, walking backwards, "I'd do anything for you, Gladion! What are friends for?"
This time, Gladion looked away without succeeding in hiding his blush from her. The words,"I'd do anything for you, Gladion," quickly repeated in his head. Surely those words didn't mean what he thought they did.
Moon, fully seeing his reaction, covered up her giggle with a hand and a smile, "I guess I'll be seeing you tomorrow then?" she said, preparing for her departure from the stand-in president.
He almost didn't realize that she said something, cause of how deep in thought he was, "Huh, uh, yeah..."
Then, the unexpected happened. A few seconds of the sound of her sweet giggle rang harmoniously in his ears, before the feeling of a pair of small, thin lips pressed his cheek. It was short, lasting only for a moment, but it was enough to stun him.
"See ya, Gladion!" the never frowning black haired Trainer called out to him, waving to him as she walked on, leaving him to his own thoughts as he watched her skip away.
"See ya..." the black hooded blonde muttered to himself as he finally turned to board the boat.
