Chapter 37

Matt's POV
(Right after Henry left)

"Okay, lets get back to it," Regina said as she turned towards me. She frowned slightly and asked, "Where's Emma?" I quickly looked to where Emma was last, but she was gone. I looked back at Regina and just shrugged.

"Regina, I found something!" We heard Emma yell.

"Found her!" I exclaimed which made Regina smile a little with a shake of her head. She pushed me in the direction of Emma's voice and we eventually found her by a plant. I froze when I saw what was on the plant.

"Blood," I whispered surprised. My eyes were wide as I looked at Emma. "Y-you don't think," I muttered. Emma shrugged, "I don't know, kid. I do know that there's a trail of it and that it's not dry yet. It's fresh."

"Killian," Emma muttered. "Mia," I whispered. The two of us looked at each other and gave a slight nod before we both started running down the trail.

"Emma! Matt!" Regina called, but we ignored her. We ran a little ways as we yelled our loved ones names. I smiled when I saw that the trail stopped behind a tree trunk. I could see a girl's body moving and I smiled.

"Mia?" I asked hopefully, but the girl quickly turned to look at me and I realized it wasn't my sister. "You're not Mia," I frowned.

"Not Mia or Killian," the girl muttered, "But I know them." "Y-you know Mia? Where is she?" I asked before running over to the girl and gettin close to her. "Where is she?"

Regina had to come and pull me back as the girl looked at me with sad eyes. Emma went forward and helped the girl up, "Who are you? Where's Mia and Killian?"

Before the girl could respond a loud growl came from deep in the woods. I jumped slightly and grabbed onto Regina's arm. "What was that?" I asked in a voice so small that I barely even heard myself.

"Something you don't want to mess with, kid. It's coming. Hide me. We have to go—now!" The girl said. Emma and Regina's eyes widened and they quickly grabbed ahold of me and the girl before using their magic to transport us away.

I opened my eyes and found myself still gripping onto Regina. "Sorry," I mumbled. "It's okay," Regina assured me, but I still quickly let go of her and took a few steps back.

"Your parents' apartment? Really?" Regina asked Emma. "It's the first place I thought of," Emma explained as she took a sheet off of the couch. "Here. Lie down."

The girl sat down and sighed in relief at the comfort. "What if whoever— or whatever— lives here, you know, comes home?" Regina asked. "I don't think you have to worry about that," Emma said as she handed a picture frame of her parents to Regina.

"So this place is just waiting for your parents to die so they can move in?" Regina asked. "Snow White and Prince Charming are going to live in the Underworld?" I asked. That is not something a kid wants to hear. I mean Mia read their story to me almost every night before bed. Imagine hearing that your sister and your favorite fairytale creatures are supposed to live in the Underworld. That's just messed up.

"Creepy, but that seems to be the case," Emma muttered. "I think we're safe here." "It's officially a cold day in hell when I move in with the Charmings," Regina said as she put the frame down.

Emma just rolled her eyes and walked over to where the girl was sitting. "You okay?" Emma asked. "I will be," the girl assured her. "And Hook?" Emma asked. I gave her a look before walking forward and adding, "And Mia?"

The girl looked between Emma and I with wide eyes before muttering, "I. . .I don't know." "Where are they?" I asked as I took another step closer getting more persistent.

"In an underground prison," the girl admitted. My eyes widened and I shook my head. "Prison? Why are they in a prison?" I asked. "Cause of him," the girl told me. Emma furrowed her eyebrows, "Him? Who's Him?"

The girl ignored our question and seemed to go deep into thought, "I escaped through tunnels. They let out in a cave somewhere in the woods, and. . . next thing I knew, you found me."

"Where is the cave? Could you find it again?" Emma asked. "Yes," the girl told us and I couldn't stop the smile that grew on my face. "But it's being guarded by something terrible. . ." the girl whispered and my smile disappeared.

"Of course," I muttered and Regina nudged me lightly.

I looked over at her and she shook her head. I sighed before looking back at the girl and asking, "What's guarding the cave?" "It. . .It has three heads," the girl said. "Yeah, it's Cerberus isn't it?" I asked, but no one listened to me.

"Its—Its teeth can crush your bones with a single bite," she said. "Yup, it's Cerberus," I muttered, but Regina just nudged me to tell me to shut up. "What? I've read stories about the Underworld and they always talk about Cerberus, the giant puppy that guards the Underworld," I whispered, but I was once again ignored.

"And those eyes. . .they burn right through your soul as it finished you off," She muttered. "Eh, a little burn is good for the soul," I told her, but she didn't find that amusing.

"Sorry," I mumbled, "I just want my sister back." "It's okay, I understand," the girl told me. "I'm Matt," I said with a smile as I held my hand out for her to shake. "I'm Meg," she told me. "Oh, like 'Meg from Hercules' Meg?" I asked. She furrowed her eyebrows, "What's a Hercules?"

"Meg, monster," Emma reminded her. Meg tensed up at the monster word before shaking her head, "Nothing can defeat this monster." "That's not true," a voice said and we all quickly turned to see Snow and Charming.

"I know exactly what this beast is and how we can defeat it," Snow said. "It's Cerberus," I told her and Snow looked at me in surprise. "Uh, y-yeah, how'd you know?"

I just shook my dad and walked past all of them and towards the door. "No one listens," I said as I threw my hands up and walked out the door.

A minute later I stuck my head back in and saw them all staring at me. I smiled sheepishly and shrugged, "What? I like being dramatic."

hey guys, so sorry for the short chapter but I had to end it like that. gosh, I love Matt😂 I think he's hilarious and is definitely the kind of little brother I would want to have.

sorry fo you didn't find him as funny as I did, but he's like my favorite character in this book so I just had to give you a whole chapter of just him.

Question of the Day- What did you all get for Christmas?

Answer- I got a lot of Marvel things and Stranger Things merch because I've started to have a big obsession with those two things lately.
