It was a late afternoon on July 20th, 1950 in a small town in Oregon called Castle Rock. you were hanging around with Ace, your boyfriend and the rest of the cobras. You were sitting next to Ace in an old blue pickup truck while he was polishing old car parts, Eyeball was renewing Billy's cobra tattoo. Since there was an open part where we usually do the tattoos
"He y/n do you want to do yours," Ace asked and you knew that eventually you would have to get your own cobra tattoo and you thought you might as well because so far as you can see is that you wouldn't just do it by yourself.
"Why not, I suppose I would have to get it eventually right," you said looking at him in a concerned yet brave look, you had the courage that you knew but once he did the first cut you could tell it was going to be painful but you tried not to show any emotion. After it was all over you tried not to think of it at all but you couldn't hide that your arm was hurting, and it was hurting a lot.
"You know you did a really well trying to hide the fact that it hurts when you get you first" Ace said as he gave you a smirk and you just punched him in the arm, and you both laughed a bit, you loved it when Ace laughed because he tried so hard all the time to be such a hard ass but you got to know him well enough to see that under his hard shell he still had emotion. Then a few minutes you, Ace and Eyeball went to the blue point diner as you watched them play pool and that's when Ace offered you your first cigarette and you denied it.
"Hey I can handle the smock from being around you guys, but I won't do it. Drinking that's what I'll do" you said as he put his arm around you while Eyeball was taking his turn
"That's fine y/n, let's go Eyeball" Ace said as eyeball took his final shot. We left the diner and came across my brother's friends which you were pretty close to as well, but it was Chris and Gordie, you wished you could help them when Ace saw them but you had no idea what you could do. Once we walked behind the building you said
"Hey Ace I think I left something back there, just keep going I'll be there soon, okay"?
"Fine catch up then," Ace said as he gave you a quick kiss on the cheek, and you ran back towards the front of the diner.
"What are you guys up to," you asked towards Chris and Gordie.
"We're just going over to Vern's house for the night," Chris said giving a look that made him look like he was lying.
"You're not going to Vern's house, are you? Is my brother in on this two" you asked looking very disappointed in Chris for lying to you.
"Fine, we're going to see the dead body of Ray Bower" Gordie finally gave in and said.
"Shut up Gordie," Chris said trying to make sure that you didn't know about their little trip.
"Vern told you that didn't he, and is my brother involved," you asked looking at them impatient for an answer.
"Yes we're going to see the dead kid and your brother and the rest of us are going," Chris said looking back at Gordie and you know what he meant when he said the rest of us because their group was him, Gordie, Vern and of course your brother Teddy.
"That's all I needed to hear," you said as you turned around and ran off to where Ace and eyeball disappeared to earlier. Instead of following them back to where the rest of the cobras would be, you went to your house. You went passed the river and on your way there you were talking to yourself.
"They should have asked me... I know where back Carlow road is from here" you said continuing to run and sounding out of breath. You started to walk to back Carlow road by yourself because after all if Vern heard it from Billy then the Cobras would be there too no doubt about it, and you just wanted to get there before all hell broke loose between you brothers gang and your boyfriend's gang. You led to you parents when you said you were going to Ace's house but instead you went to your backyard and went down a very steep hill to get to an unused trail. 'The only reason I know this trail was back here is that this is where I went when I was pissed off at Ace' you thought to yourself, but you were surprised that Teddy didn't know about it. You usually never passed the train bridge because you didn't really think it was that safe; however, today you would have to make some real miles. Not that long after you started you made it to the river and you decided to go around because hell knows you were not going to do anything if a train would come. It felt like you were halfway across the state by the time you should be half way across the bridge. You ended up running into Vince which was another one of the cobras, but he wasn't bad and to be honest, he was a lot nicer than Ace.
"Hey y/n why are you this far from your house" Vince questioned and you slowed down to a stop.
"I just have to get away from some things, you know," you said, and you could see that Vince doubted your answer but since you were friends a lot longer than when he became a cobra so he just let it go.
"What are you getting away from Duchamp," he said and since he knew that you hated anyone who called you by your last name so you punched him in the shoulder.
"Nevermind Vince, I have to go," you said as you started walking again after all you didn't have all day to spare by talking to him. It took you about a day to get to the other side of the bridge but it was worth it. Once you got there, well it was around 10 at night but you kept walking until it hit midnight and your feet could carry you anymore so you just laid on the ground and tried to get some sleep. It was about 5 in the morning when you heard a train in the distance and since you're a light sleep you woke up to the slightest sound. You pulled some food out of your pocket and ate up the brushed the dirt of your back and continued in your way. Since you were already on back Carlow road all you needed to find was the body, it took you a good 30 minutes but you eventually found it. You decided you would wait and get some extra sleep but by the time you woke up you saw Ace facing straight at Chris, you stayed hidden but you knew that wouldn't last long. You were still waiting until you heard Billy's voice faint in the distance directed towards Vern. Then what surprised you the most was when Vern ran right in your direction.
"Seriously," you said in a quiet voice as you grabbed Vern by the arm.
"Jesus... how did you know we were going to be here at this time," Vern said in a quiet voice back at you.
"I was asleep right here and I just happened to wake up at the right time," you said in the same tone as before pointing to the ground. Soon are lovely conversation was over when my brother ran up in the same direction that Vern did. You covered his mouth so he wouldn't scream, and that is when you looked out to saw that Ace was holding his switchblade up. Then Teddy hit you in the stomach and he asked what I was doing here.
"I saw Chris and Gordie earlier yesterday and they told me that you were coming here," you said as Teddy and Vern looked at each other in disappointment.
"You have to wait until ace leaves then you can go back" but then you were interrupted when you heard a gunshot and it was Gordie just protecting Chris as he always did, but you knew Gordie would never shoot at ace. After it was all over and you made your presence known to Gordie and Chris, then it was about an hour later when you started walking back up towards the road and that's when Eyeball stopped you.
'What were you doing down there y/n" he said as he pulled his car to a stop.
"You want to give me a ride back to my house, then I can tell you," you said because you were tired of people not knowing you were related to Teddy.
"Fair enough, get in," he said as you walked around and sat down in his passenger seat.
"Okay eyeball do you want me to lie to you or tell you the truth," you said as you looked at him with a sarcastic look on your face, but he knew you were joking.
"Okay, to be honest, I was down there because I went back to talk to your brother when I said I forgot something in the Bluepoint dinner yesterday," you said as he pulled to a stop light.
"Now why would you do that" eyeball questioned looking at you.
"I went back because my brother was involved and I pretty much know where he goes, and I mean everywhere," you said as you looked back at the light
"Who's your brother," eyeball asked as he started to push on the gas again.
"Teddy Duchamp," you said as he gave you a surprised look.
"To be honest I can see the resemblance now, but I am not going to be the one to tell ace this," he said parking the car on the street outside your house.
"Yeah I didn't think you'd want to," you said as you opened the door.
"Thanks for the ride anyway," you said as you closed the door behind you and walked in and changed out of you dirty clothes before you parents could see you. Then after about an hour, Teddy's returned.
