Her Shattered Soul

Chapter 2

"We all waited for him to come with his family for the proposal. But he never came..." Sadia said while sobbing. "He disappeared. He was a fraud. Liar!" This time she couldn't control her tears and cried.

We all tried to comfort her and stayed beside her.

"B-but... how is that possible? Didn't you say he was from a good and respectful family." Ayesha asked.

"He wasn't. He lied to me about everything. His parents don't even live here and after investigating about him we found out he didn't have a good reputation. But I just can't believe he could do this to me. Why me? And he got away with this... he disappeared and got away and left me humiliated infront of the whole family..." she cried. "I can't believe I fell for him...he's a fraud!...he's a cheater!..." she went on saying as if she lost her senses.

These words kept ringing in my head and were driving me crazy.

(Flashback):

"Jalal...?" I stood there frozen, holding the phone reciever...

"Yeah remember? We met in that family gathering. I live near your neighbourhood now."

"Um..." I was too nervous to say anything.

"Did I freak you out? I am sorry...I didn't know how to talk to you but I really wanted to hear you and check if you were ok."

"What do you mean?"

"Faryal, I saw you crying. I see you come to that park everyday and cry and I can't see tears in your eyes." He said gently.

"I-I..." I was speechless. He saw me crying? And the way he was so concerned surprised me.

"You're so shy and innocent Faryal and I like that about you. But please don't stay sad and distant like that, maybe you want someone to hear you out and help you? I am here for you Faryal and I really care about you ok? So please don't hesitate to share with me." He said with concern.

"Thank you Jalal...it means a lot...I dunno how to say it I really needed someone to talk to but I dunno..."

"Faryal just trust me, I won't let you down."

"Jalal..." I couldn't help but cry.

"Hey hey! Please don't cry. I can't see you cry like this. Tell me what is making you cry?"

"I dunno Jalal... I just don't want to live anymore..." I cried.

"Faryal? Hey Faryal?! Are you even listening!"

"Huh?" I come back to the present and see Samira standing and scowling at me.

"What is wrong with you girl? Where are you lost? Is everything okay?"

"Ah yeah, I am fine."

"Is it that...?" Samira asks worriedly.

"Samira, I have stopped thinking about that." I say seriously.

"Okay that's good. Well then let's go eat something. I don't even know for how long you were sitting there lost in your thoughts."

"I was listening to Sadia..."

"Ah yeah! I missed the class and the conversation cuz of that stupid elective but anyways what happened? I heard her engagement got cancelled?"

"Yeah...let's not talk about it now." I say expressionlessly.
