( Christa's POV )
I found a note on my dresser this morning from Ymir. It told me to meet her at the edge of the cliff at midnight. I didn't see her for the rest of the day, I was starting to get worried. It's 11:47 and I'm almost there. When I do get there I'm about 10 minutes early and Ymir isn't here yet. I sat on the grass and waited, a few minutes later, at exactly 12 O'clock the clouds parted to show the shimmering moon and the clock tower in the village not far from there sang a beautiful song. I stared out at the view, it was stunning the way the moonlight struck the rooftops in the town below. I closed my eyes as each individual blade of green grass tickled my legs. Then I heard a soft, lulling voice beside me.
" Beautiful isn't it? "
I recognised it in an instant.
" Ymir? "
My eyes opened to meet hers, she seemed calm and almost in a daydream. She smiled but did not look away. Our eyes were locked together like a magnet.
" Yes, it's me "
That was a rhetorical question, of course it's her. I'm looking straight at her. But she answered it anyway. She broke the connection between our eyes and stared up at the sky.
" Why did you ask me to come here, Ymir? "
She didn't answer me, she just continued to stare at the stars. It was like she didn't even hear my question. So I asked her again.
" Ymir, Why did you...? "
I was cut off.
" Christa we need to talk! "
Her body language and expression changed almost instantly from calm to almost nervous looking. But I pretended not to notice.
" What about? "
She looked at the ground and seemed lost for words. I could tell she was struggling, so I held each of her hands in each of mine. She looked up and kissed my cheek before looking down to her pocket. She reached into it and pulled out a small, velvet, black box with red lining. It was beautiful, but what it held was more stunning than words could describe. She pulled her hands away from mine and got onto one knee. I had no idea what she was doing at the time, but looking back on it, it was kind of obvious. She opened the small box to display a crystalline white diamond attached to a small golden ring. Small enough for my finger. She closed her eyes and took a very long but smooth breathe.
" Christa Lenz. Will you marry me? "
She said it slowly but with fear and nervousness in her voice. I did not hesitate to answer, however I also spoke sweetly, not to disturb the moonlit atmosphere.
" Yes Ymir "
Her face lit up in joy, as did mine, and we embraced each other under the pale blue moonlight.
Soon I would be Christa Lenz Fritz.
