On the 18th of August, Nala Kanise puts up a birthday party for herself, expecting to have the best time with her greatest friends as she celebrates becoming an adult. What she gets, however, is an empty apartment with none of her buddies showing or even picking up their phones. The one who does is at another party and invites her there, while the other doesn't even know what she's talking about. Sad and on the verge of exploding with anger, she gets as far away from possible. I.e. a few blocks away where she finds just the right people to lighten up her mood.
On the 18th of August, Sinclair "Hec" Westford rolls up to a joint for himself and his friends, expecting to loosen up and have a good time as he celebrates the last weeks before University. What he gets, however, is a two-hour race with a giant German Shepherd who manages to bite it away from his hands. When he does get his precious blunt back, it's ruffled and wet with dog saliva. Exasperated and yearning, he and his friend smoke off the little that's left and try to get as far away as possible from the dog and his territory. I.e. a few streets away where he finds just the right person to lighten up his mood.
With a best-friend-turned-foe, a foe-turned-Satan and new secrets emerging from every corner, Nala finds it hard to balance her life and what it's turning into. Suddenly, rumours are spread and she finds herself completely alone as her last year of high school begins. But maybe, just maybe, with new allies by her side and just enough drama to spice things up, she might be able to pull herself out of a dangerous path, one that she's bound to go down otherwise.
Or maybe not.
