I looked around at the girl, who was now squinting at me, blinking hard, shaking her head, and generally causing herself to be a public spectacle of embarrassment. Lucky me, I couldn't be embarrassed, due to the others on the deck not noticing me. Sometimes I wonder how being the 2nd largest country makes you invisible, whereas much smaller and stranger nations are well known. Heck.
The girl choked out, "You can't be Canada, you're just a stupid cosplayer." She ran over to me, and pulled my curl. I screamed. It was like fire ripping through my hair. She looked at my eyes and jumped back. They look like purple fire when I'm upset. I kept screaming, but no one but her noticed. She looked at me in shock.
"You are C-C-Can-n-nada."
She shivered, let go of my curl, and then began walking off the observation deck, towards the elevator. And then pulled out a phone.
Oh crap, I realized. If she texts her friends that I'm real... I'm dead. Like not actually dead but-sorry. I mean, I would probably be in huge trouble.
"Hey, wanna go to T-Tim Hort-t-tons?" I yelled in a shaky voice, out of the blue. Hopefully she would put her phone away and say yes. She turned around, surprised and blinked twice.
"Sure...? But don't you have better things to do than hang out with sone random fangirl?"
I laughed and shook my head.
"W-well, Anyone who can notice me is worth hanging out with."
I smiled at her and then motioned at her phone.
"C-can I use your phone? Mine's dead and I n-need to tell Alfred I'll be late for our 'family reunion'. Even though I don't c-care for them. Arthur is always a grump and then gets really d-d-drunk, Francis gets drunk too, Alfred ge- well let's just say everyone gets drunk except me. And I'm not noticed for half the time."
"Sure." she handed the phone to me.
Quickly I scanned her texts and located her main group one:
"Quinn: Hey guys, guess who I met today?
Emily: Who the **** did you ****ing meet is it some ****ing guy from one of your s***ty animes?
Quinn: Actually, Mrs. Killjoy, you are correct. I met Matthew.
Tess: who?"
I guiltily typed a false answer.
" 'Quinn': A cute lifeguard who looks like Canada from Hetalia!"
After making sure the text sent, I exited the text. After, I happened to glance at her home screen as I turned the phone off. I nearly dropped the iPhone. It was yaoi! Of me and P-Prussia? What the maple?
I handed the phone back to her.
"You look a little upset," she said to me, after safely stowing the phone in her pocket.
"I'm fine! I'm sorry if you-"
She blushed.
"You saw something yaoi-ish, didn't you."
"I'm s-sorry..."
"No. I'm sorry, You probably saw something pornographic involving yourself."
I blushed a deep scarlet.
"Erm...W-Well...Maybe?"
She buried her face in her hands.
"I wish I could make it up to you.."
I tried to smile.
"It's o-ok, I'm sorry that I used your phone in the first place. I could have charged mine. Besides, I see this all the time."
I hoped the lie didn't show, in fact I rarely went online to avoid seeing anything involving me. I hated most of the ships, except for one...
Ten minutes later, we had exited the tower and were both walking down the street in the crisp Toronto air. She was bouncing excitedly, and singing "Marukaite Chikyuu" very loudly. I was walking beside her, being unnoticed as usual and looking for a Tim Hortons. I also occasionally nudged her to make her quiet down, but she didn't pay it any mind.
"S-sorry to interrupt you. Here's a Tim Hortons."
I steered her into it and we walked up to the counter.
"I'll order first," I said.
"Hello, welcome to Canada's favourite coffeeshop! How may I help you."
She was right, it was my favourite.
"One large double cream coffee, no sugar please. And a m-maple glazed doughnut, please."
"I'm afraid we're fresh out of maple doughnuts," the barista said.
"Oh, I-I'm sorry. Then I will have no doughnuts."
"It's ok!" the bright and cheery waitress then told me the price and I swiped my card in the machine.
"Next," hollered the waitress. An elderly couple near the window chuckled. One leaned over the table to whisper something to her husband. He winked back at her.
"Can I have a packoffivejamtimbitsandadecafcoffeplease?"
"Miss, could you repeat that."
"A pack of five jam timbits and a medium decaf coffee with one cream, one sugar."
"Ok, that'll be 2.50!"
Quinn handed over two toonies and a loonie and recieved two quarters as change and smiled as she got her timbits. She strode over to where
I was standing.
"How did you get in an anime, anyways?"
I shrugged.
"America w-w-wanted everyone to know he was the hero, and somehow persuaded Japan to start a webcomic or manga or whatever. Then Japan got this anime published and the rest is, w-well... You know what happened."
She bounced.
"I can't wait to tell my friends!"
I frowned.
"Sorry, n-no."
She stopped her excited bounce and spilt a bit of coffee on herself.
"What?"
"I said," I looked at her severely, "You c-can't tell your friends. We were all sworn to secrecy and it was by my stupidity that you found out about my existence. I wanted to be noticed and I was just annoyed and I'm sorry..."
She smiled.
"Okie-dokie, I won't tell anyone. As long as I can meet all the nations and see your place sometime!"
"Are you f-free tomorrow?" I asked. Hopefully I didn't sound too creepy."
