"This is the most fun I've ever ha- whoa!" Dan was suddenly cut off as his friend Phil tackled him to the ground in a hug.
If he was being honest, Dan didn't mind his friend's cuddly behavior. In fact, he found it somewhat endearing at times. This time, however, things seemed like more than just friendly actions as Phil let go of Dan and stared down at him. Dan was shocked to see a look of absolute longing in Phil's electric blue eyes. Phil must have taken the expression on Dan's face as one of disgust, as he quickly averted his eyes, shook his head, and sat up. The two friends ended the video, and the room was suddenly filled with tense silence.
Dan put on a brave face and announced that he was going to start editing the video, leaving the room in somewhat of a hurry. He needed to be alone with his thoughts. As he left the room, Dan failed to notice the single tear that slid down the side Phil's face.
Phil sat in the center of the room, tears dripping down his pale cheeks. He didn't fully understand why he started crying in the first place; it wasn't like he'd been shouted at for tackling Dan. On the contrary, the way Dan had looked at him made him sick to his stomach. Not to mention, Dan had rushed out of the room quickly afterward, leaving Phil wondering if Dan had wanted Phil to stay away from him.
Dan sat in front of his laptop, staring blankly at it. All he could think of was Phil's face, staring down at him with that look. Dan shook his head as he began to blush profusely. What on earth was he feeling? He'd always felt such a sense of closeness to Phil, like something was missing when they were apart. He always wanted to be near Phil, and to do things like...
Dan began to blush again.
No, no, no, you need to distract yourself. These thoughts make things more complicated than they need to be.
Dan's stomach started to growl as he realized his hunger.
"Hey, Phil, can we go get some food? I'm starving."
No answer.
"Phil?"
Still no answer.
Worry flashed in Dan's eyes and he stood up, heading to Phil's room.
The sight that met Dan's eyes made his breathing heavy. Phil was laying on the floor of the room, tears staining his face, fast asleep.
Why was he crying?
Dan gently shook Phil's shoulder, and the sleeping boy groaned and rolled over, rubbing his eyes.
"Phil," Dan said gently, "what's wrong?"
"What?"
"You look like you were crying, Phil."
Panic flashed in Phil's blue eyes. "No! I wasn't crying! I'm fine," he sputtered.
The look on the poor boy's face made Dan forget about anything else, and without thinking, he reached out and wiped the tears from Phil's cheeks. He then positioned himself behind Phil and wrapped his arms around the other boy. Phil let out a sort of choked gasp as Dan nuzzled his head in the crook of Phil's neck.
"You don't have to tell me what's wrong," Dan murmured, sending chills down Phil's spine, "just know, I'm here for you. Okay?"
Phil nodded slightly and Dan pressed a gentle kiss to Phil's jaw.
Dan pulled away from his friend and stood up, offering him a hand.
"I'm fucking starving. Let's go get some food."
