"Alfred!" Bruce demanded, his tone growing heated. "What are you doing?"

From the front seat of the car, the boy's butler swerved the wheel quickly. "Gotham is not safe right now, and you two like to make it your job to get caught up in it."

In the seat beside Bruce, Selina's senses sharpened. "You can't do this, I'm not in your custody."

"Evidently, I already am. You two are going somewhere far away. Besides, Miss Kyle should be thanking me for the help after all that's happened."

She crossed her arms and shrunk to the window, where the city thinned out around them and gradually faded into wilderness.

All three of them were condemned to tense silence that consumed them for hours.

When Alfred finally slowed the car and pulled onto a rocky drive, Gotham was a faint notion miles and miles away.

"Where the hell are we?" Selina hissed, making Alfred sigh.

"We're at a cabin, in the woods. I'm dropping you two off here."

"You can't do this," Bruce replied through gritted teeth.

    "Once again mate, I can."

With that, he pulled into the car and drove off. The two watched with open mouths and sat for a few moments in stony emptiness. Bruce then climbed up onto the deck and pulled open the sliding glass door only to disappear into the structure.

Selina leaned on the railing to scan the area in front of her. Surrounding the cabin was an abyss of dark green pine trees and fog. Visibility was low, but from what she could tell, they were in a valley. The road that they entered from was a long slope that descended into god knows where.

After stepping back out onto the balcony, Bruce reported that the kitchen was completely stocked with food and sleeping conditions were ample.

"Who cares? I'm not staying here."

"Where will you go then? There's nothing around for miles, Selina."

She wanted to say something, but there was nothing to say. He was right.

They separated again, one in the cabin, and the other alone with her thoughts on a balcony. No one around for miles...

When she finally decided to step inside, Selina was met with what should have been a comforting sight. The cabin was small but cozy. It was composed of one area of main living with a couch and a window to the left, a tiny kitchen separated by a wall on the right, a bathroom in the back and a loft that took up the rear half of upper space in the home.

Bruce sat up and met her eyes from the loft, but she pulled away and stalked off to the kitchen. Grabbing an apple from the fridge, she walked back out and plunked down onto the couch.

The boy let his head fall back into the pile of blankets and stared at the wooden ceiling. He wished Selina would communicate with him. The last time they saw each other was quite literally a fight. Selina was definitely still mad about that. He wished he could find a way to tell her that he did it all for her own good, because he cared, but she wouldn't listen. Selina's mom was a touchy subject.

'The only reason she came back, after all these years...was you' he remembered her saying. After the two had finally decided on being in a relationship, everything had turned to dust and bitterness.
