It had happened in Third grade. The moment Mary Lewis stepped into school, Eliza was finished. The short version of the story is that a dazzlingly beautiful orphan was befriended by a Peggy Schuyler and Angelica Schuyler. Eliza was so smitten she became afraid to look Mary in the eye. So she didn't. Her sisters moved on. The fierce Mary Lewis became known as Maria Schuyler, and Elizabeth Schuyler became known as Elizabeth Wayles (From her best freind Martha Wayles) and eventually as Eliza who? This happened by Eliza pleading for her name to be entered in the school not as Schuyler. The convincing Angelica made her wealthy father adopt Mary. Mary convinced him to change her name to Maria.

Only once did a student call Eliza a Schuyler again. Angelica stomped him into a pulp. His reputation, and his crotch were never repaired again.

No one disobeyed the word of the girl who wore heels and could perform a curb stomp ever again. She made a point that she would do the same to anyone who got Maria's name wrong as well.

Angelica was the only one who knew why Eliza had been thrust to the bottom of the hiarcy, and it went something like this:

"Please Angie! Promise me!"

"I don't understand, I could protect you, I won't let them hurt you, just stay with us!"

"No. You have to promise me. You will not speak to me. We have to be strangers, don't you understand?!"

"No!"

"ANGELICA. Listen to me. I'm not afraid what they would say if they thought I was gay. It's for Maria."

"What?"

"She has to have this. She can't be treated as anything less than a queen. And I can't be there with her."

------

And that's it. Angelica swore to pretend she never knew Eliza. Because she loved her sister, and if she did not want to be her sister she didn't have to. And Angelica understood love, and if Eliza thought this was for Maria, then how could she argue?

((A/N: So there! How was it? Please tell me it was okay. Cause I am hyped for this story, so please stay tuned. I also write (historical) lams stuff in my other book, so please check that out!

Seriously though, bear with me here.
