Eloise POV
“Hey Eloise! Wake up. It’s almost 8:00 am.” My best friend Candice yelled through my room.
“Okay.” I sighed. “Just wait for me inside the car.” I stood up and headed straight to the bathroom.
Anyways, Candice is always like that, always in a hurry for school. For your information, her parents are on abroad. That’s why she lives with us. My Mom is on abroad, too.
I did miss my Mom though and hadn’t seen her since she went abroad. The last time I saw her was in my 8th birthday party.
How many years was that?... Oh, it was 9 years ago. 9 years with only my dad and my younger brother, Dail, with me. He is sixteen and just so you know, I’m seventeen.
Dail is okay. Sometimes crazy, but always protective. He’s always with me and Candice. And I think Dail and Candice have something special. But they are not telling me, and it’s kind of unfair. Pfft.
I can’t really blame Candice to like my bro. He’s good looking, not to mention he’s tall. He is six feet tall and muscular, with his black hair, dark brown eyes and fair colored skin. He has inherited his height and build from our Dad and his skin from my Mom.
I was blessed too. Not with Dad’s height as I was only five feet and 9 inches tall, which I guess is okay. But I did have Mom’s lovely looks.
Looking in the mirror my reflection stared back at me. Long, wavy black hair wisped softly around a heart shaped face, chocolate brown eyes, and full pouting lips.
Everybody said I was beautiful but I never did agree with them. Average….. yes. Pretty….. maybe just a little bit. But certainly not beautiful.
“Eloise, are you done? We’ve been waiting for you for so long, what up with you?!” Dail shouted, interrupting my thoughts.
“I’m coming.” As I checked my make up one last time. I opened the door, grabbed my bag and ran down the stairs. “I’m ready.” I said.
“You really take a lot of time to get dressed.” Candice whined. “I mean, are you up all night? Maybe that’s why you wake up so late.” Candice asked.
“I forgot to alarm my clock.” I said. But what she said was true. I was up all night thinking of something.
“Candice, didn’t you already get used to my sister?” Dail asked in a sweet voice. “Hop in just so we’re sure we won’t be late.” Dail said before Candice can say a word.
Within a minute I was careening through the hall-ways, crowded with all too-familiar faces. I approached my newly assigned locker.
Scanning the lockers, I didn’t have to look too hard or too long before I spotted my assigned locker.
Putting my things to my newly assigned locker. I glanced at my side and saw Zeke standing beside me.
I’m the only one who is calling Ezekiel as Zeke. Well, he is my closest boy friend. Our closeness even got joined with curiousness of us having a thing. That’s why I have many haters. Know why? Because Zeke is popular. Girls always fall for his feet. Just so you know he is good-looking, he even plays basketball. He is six foot and two inches tall and very muscular, with his black hair, silver eyes and olive colored skin. Sometimes I don’t understand why he’s still single. Not that I suspect something, but sometimes I think he’s gay. LOL!
“Hey, Elle. What’s up? It seems that you have something deep going on in your mind.” Zeke said.
“Oh, hi. I’m just busy fixing my things.” I said with a grin.
“Fixing your things? Eh, you’re just staring at it. Pfft.” He sighed. “Okay, never mind. How’s your summer?” Zeke asked.
“It’s fine. How ‘bout yours?” I asked while closing my locker.
“Great.” Zeke said with a big smile.
“Your smile is different today, huh?”
“Come with me. I have someone to introduce to you.” Zeke grabbed my hand, dragging me to the cafeteria.
“Kelly!” Zeke shouted. Who’s Kelly? His girlfriend? Whoa! It doesn’t look like it.
“Ezekiel!” A girl shouted. Maybe that girl is Kelly. Kelly walked toward us. I saw that she’s staring at my hand and Zeke’s hand. I pulled my hand away.
“Kelly, meet Eloise. Elle, meet Kelly.” Zeke turned to me. “She’s the girl I told you about, my childhood friend.” Hmm.. Oh, okay. She’s the girl Zeke had a crush on when we were little.
“Yeah, she’s the childhood friend you had a cru-“ Zeke covered my mouth. I knew he would do that.
“Yeah, yeah. Just keep your mouth shut.” Zeke whispered and remove his hand to my mouth.
“Hi Kelly.” I grinned.
“Hi. Eloise, right?”
“Yes.”
“Anyways, I’ll give Kelly a tour around. So, see you later Elle.”
“Okay, see you.” I wave and started to walk away.
While walking, someone accidentally bumped me.
“I’m sorry.” The guy said. His face isn’t familiar. Maybe he’s a new transferee.
“It’s okay. You’re new here?” I asked while picking up my things.
“Yeah” He said.
Looking up, I saw his stare at me. That stare…. It’s different from the stares of the others.
Just then the bell rang. “I need to go. Bye.” I said, waving my hand.
“I’m really sorry.” The guy said.
