Head Over Heels

Adrien POV :

Scene: (Adrien is curled up on his bed sobbing)

I couldn't stop coughing and shaking, and the tears wouldn't stop flowing. A-as long as she's happy right? It's okay. She likes someone else. B-but it's okay. I'm okay. He thought to himself. But no matter what I told myself I couldn't stop the sobs racking through my body.

Earlier that day on patrol...

Chat Noir POV :

Something is up with Ladybug. Normally she laughs off my flirty advances, but today she just completely ignored me. Patrol had already ended. We were sitting on a beam near the top of the Eiffel Tower, but Ladybug seemed to be in her own world. Her knees where pulled up to her chest, and her chin rested on her knees.
Suddenly she spoke out loud. "Have you ever been in love Chat?" She asked. I was about to say something cheesy, like how strong my love for her was, but she seemed pretty serious about this. "Yeah" I replied. "How do you get that person to even realize you exist." I chuckled, "My Lady, you've seen how I try, but my way obviously doesn't work too well." She didn't  seem to pick up on my hints, so I gave up and sighed. "What's he like?" I asked. She looked surprised, but answered, "Well, he's absolutely amazing! He's kind, and selfless, and adorable! He's such a kindhearted good person and-" she continued gushing on and on, but all I could focus on was her face. This was the way she acted when she was in love. She had never acted like this around me. I sighed. "He sounds like a great guy." I mumbled. She giggled, "I know! It's just..." I looked up confused at her hesitation. "He doesn't seem to even notice I exist." She sighed. I placed my hand on her shoulder, "Hey, don't talk like that! You're amazing Ladybug, and I'm sure if you go up to him tomorrow and tap him on the shoulder, he'll notice you. So tomorrow as soon as you see him, tap him on the shoulder, smile at him, and say ' Hi! Do you want to go to the park later? Just to talk, I would like to get to know you a little better." He'll fall in love with you." She turned and smiled at me, " You're right Chat, I will! I have to go home, I still have to finish my homework and get some sleep!" She stood up and swung away across the rooftops. I sighed and turned around to return home.

The next morning:

Marinette POV :

Speaking to Chat last night really helped me. I was going to do it. I was going to invite Adrien to the park after school.  I saw his limo pull up and I squared my shoulders and walked towards him.

Adrien POV :

I got out of the limo and dragged my feet to the school. I pushed inside and stood in front of my locker, resting my head against the cool metal. I'm still upset, but I ran out of tears last night. Suddenly I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see Marinette smiling at me. "Oh, hey Marinette" I said rubbing my forehead. Her face was flushed and she looked nervous. "U-um h-hi Adrien! Um would y-you like to go to t-the park after s-school? Not like a date! But ummm just to talk? I'd like to get to know you a little better!" She smile nervously and I gasped. Ladybugs flushed face from our talk last night flashed over Marinette's matching perfectly. The talk flashed through my mind.

Flashback:

"-go up to him tomorrow and tap him on the shoulder, he'll notice you. So tomorrow as soon as you see him, tap him on the shoulder, smile at him, and say ' Hi! Do you want to go to the park later? Just to talk, I would like to get to know you a little better." He'll fall in love with you." She turned and smiled at me, " You're right Chat, I will!"

The two situations were too simple. It couldn't be! Was Marinette really Ladybug? I composed myself and grinned back at her. "Sure Mari! See you there!" Her face flooded with relief and happiness. "Ok!" She giggled grinning widely. I waved and walked off to my first class, but my thoughts remained on the exchange. I thought about Mari and Ladybug all day.

After school in the park:

Marinette POV :

I sat on the bench in the park nervously jiggling my knees. What was I even going to say when he got here? What was I thinking?! I was torn out of my doubts by Adrien's voice, "Hey Marinette! So listen I have to ask you about something." I smile at him and patted the bench next to me. "Sure!" He sat down and turned to me, his eyes were dead serious. I was confused at his sudden seriousness, but I listened. "Marinette... I-I've been thinking about this all day, but I need to know if I'm right." He swallowed, "Marinette, are you Ladybug?" I gasped and my eyes widened, "H-How did you-?!" I didn't get to finish my thought though, because Adrien had reached out and pulled me close, burying me in a hug. I melted into his hug and sighed into his chest, "How did you figure it out?" I asked. He pulled back to look me in the eyes. "Well, after you used my paawwwsitively purrrfect advice I put the pieces together." He winked and waggled his fingers at me, and for the first time I realized he was wearing the same ring as Chat. I gasped, "Chat?!" He kissed me on the nose and I flushed. "I don't know how I was so blind Mari, you were by my side this whole time and I didn't even notice!" Then his eyes widened, v"God, Mari! You don't know how long I sobbed last night because I thought you were in love with someone else! I'm so glad it was my civilian form. I honestly don't think I could've handled it." She smiled and threw her arms on me, planting a kiss on my cheek. "I'm sorry I made you cry! I really did love both sides of you, you know!" I stared at the top of her head shocked. "My feelings for this side of you showed up first, and I felt like betrayal to love you too." I chuckled, " I was in the same situation Mari! Say, do you want to be my girlfriend?" She laughed, "Of course Kitty!" I smiled and entwined my fingers through hers, "Cmon My Lady, I'll walk you home." She smiled and we headed off towards her house.
