Prologue
Tobias stared at his paws as he passed along the tree border.Snow silently falling all around him,making the world seem eerily silent.He lifted his muzzle and breathed in,the scent of Rune still fresh as he trotted now through the trees.The trunks of the trees were covered in white.Tobias growled as he noticed that Rune's scent had become faint due to the snow.He began to run through the trees,snow flying from under his paws.After minutes of running he reached the larkspur clearing.The cream and white tom's eyes widened with fear as he saw his former mates brown fur like a spot against the blanket of snow and ice under their raw feet.The toms breathe got caught in his throat as her stared at his beautiful former mate.Tension rose as he walked to Rune,her eyes warm and not cold as he expected.He immediately noticed the kitten hanging from her jaws.The kit had light brown fur and dark brown markings.Her eyes narrowed as she placed the kit at Tobias's paws.
"I'm sorry,but we both know this is what's best for her.'
Rune whipped her body around and stalked away into the trees.The two had met a month before the kitten had been born,both agreeing he lit should be be raised in the tribe with Tobias instead of alone with Rune.Tobias picked the kit up and bounded through the dense woodland.His eyes focused on the woven trail in front of him as he headed for the cave Systems.
He reached the towering mountains and leaped up rocks and grassy cliffs to reach the Entrance to the mountain caves.Cats were just beginning to stir as he in.Many cats looked at him with wide curious eyes as he placed the kitten at his feet.
"I found a kit abandoned in a tree hollow when I was hunting this morning."Tobias murmured,not doing much to soothe the tribe cats ' curiosity
Tobias padded past the tribe cats and ducked into the den of the queens.His eyes landed on streak,who had given birth a week ago.Her eyes landed on the kit and softened immediately.She softly pointed her muzzle to her belly where A tiny cream kit was nursing.Tobias placed the kit next to them and thanked Streak by pressing his muzzle to her ear and quietly walking out.
For the first time in months,Tobias slept peacefully knowing his daughter was safe.
