Evan: Allison Reynolds, a social outcast. (He would be still named Evan Hansen but he would have her traits etc., he would also be a dude)
Connor: John Bender, a rebellious delinquent, (Also like Evan, he just has the quality of John, but he is named Connor, also Zoe and Connor aren't related Connor lives with Larry)
Jared: Brian Johnson, geekish intelligent, (same personality, his name would still be Jared)
Zoe: Claire Standish, beautiful and pampered, (not related to Connor, Cynthia married some random man the author could think of a name)
Alana: (this isn't like her but- I can change it, she is still female, name is still Alana, and still has her quirky personality from the show) -Andrew Clark, he was originally a wrestler, she could be changed to anything. Like she could be a smart nerd (?) valedictorian.. (This could be hard, but she could be a wrestler if that's what the author wants.)
Kevin Pariseau- the principal at Shermer High
The five walk into Shermer High at 7 AM for an all day detention.
Pariseau tells the group to sit there, don't speak or sleep or move from their seats till detention ends at 3 PM.
Pariseau then tells them to write a 1000 word essay in which they must explain "who you think you are"
He then leaves to his office a few doors down, he occasionally comes in to check on them.
-Connor has an antagonistic with Pariseau, so he frequently riles up the other students teasing Jared and Alana and making fun of Zoe, while Evan sits quietly watching.
Pariseau gives Connor multiple detentions for the next few weeks, and even locks him in a closet. (You could make gay jokes abt that lmaooo) but Connor escapes and goes back to the library.
Connor eventually gets marijuana from his locker (wow that's actually really Connor) and they all talk. They tell each other their deepest secrets:
-Evan is a compulsive liar,
-Connor comes from an abusive household;
-Jared was planning suicide with a flare gun due to the inability to cope with a bad grade;
- Zoe is a virgin who feels constant pressure from her friends to be a certain way.
They also discover that they all have strained relationships with their parents, which are a key cause for their personal issues as well:
-Evans parents ignore her due to their own problems;
-Alana's father constantly criticizes his efforts at wrestling (or any substituted activity the author wants) and pushes her as hard as possible;
-Connors father verbally and physically abuses him;
-Jareds overbearing parents put immense pressure on him to earn high grades;
-Zoe's parents (Cynthia marries some random man, can make up a name) use her to get back at each other during frequent arguments.
Even though coming from different social status, they become friends and start some romantic relationships as the day goes on.
Zoe gives Evan a makeover by putting on some slight makeup and getting new clothes from Zoe's bag to show how handsome Evan actually is (could be like a crop top and booty shorts BECAUSE I LIVE FOR EVAN IN A CROP TOP) and Connor sparks a romantic interest in Evan.
Zoe decides to break her virgin status by giving Alana a hickey in a closet. (They like make-out or whatever)
As detention is coming to the end the group wants Jared to write up the 1000 word essay they were assigned to do when detention started. Jared writes the essay, Connor goes back to the storage closet for Pariseau to think he never left.
Jared leaves the essay in the library for Pariseau to find.
When they depart ways Zoe and Alana make out or kiss (either) and Evan and Connor do as well. Connor gives Evan his black sweatshirt he came in wearing. Zoe gives Alana a diamond earring she was wearing.
In the essay Jared states that Pariseau judged them off simple definitions and stereotypes.
The essay ends by saying
"But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain, and an athlete(or whatever Alana is portrayed as), and a basket case, a princess, and a criminal." Jared signs the letter as "The Breakfast Club."
THE END
EXTRA NOTES: this may be a bit confusing for people who haven't watched The Breakfast Club.
-so Connor and Zoe are not siblings, never related, Connor lives with Larry who is abusive (could be because he is gay) and Zoe lives with Cynthia and Y/N.
-Evan and Connor fall in love ad stuff, at the end the could leave together.
-I live for Fem!Evan, so giving him a crop top and small shorts would give me life.
-Evan doesn't have his cast he never fell.
-I WOULD LOVE IT IF SOMEONE WOULD WRITE THIS! Please!!!
- these are just bullet points, and I would assume the author would elaborate on the bullet points I stated.
-Alana is a bit hard to write for, she could be the wrestler stereotype that Andrew was already or the author could give her different qualities and hobbies.
- All of the Dear Evan Hansen characters would stay the same. Example:
Zoe is Claire, but in the story the author would use Zoe instead of the name Claire, Privately message me if you need help understanding this.
-they all stay the same genders, so Zoe Female, Connor Male, Evan Male, Alana Female, Jared Male. And they would still have the same personalities as in the show.
