I waited in my dorm. Jessica had found me on my way back from my last class. She waited with me. I knew she might be able to come along. It would add some confidence considering how we'd barely met and he was telling me to go somewhere with him alone. Nobody would trust that. Well, unless they're a dumbass. The dorm was empty. David had gone with his girlfriend and her posse earlier. They weren't back until twelve. Nothing but the news made any noise.
"In more recent news," the reporter stated, "a local college seems to be the center of attention for suspicious activity."
I tuned in completely when the very college I had been going to popped onto the screen. I tapped Jessica and got her to look. We both stared at the television is curiosity.
"Sightings of a man dressed in an all white, tight outfit have been reported two times. What is left of the student group two years ago described something similar. The police still choose to do nothing of it due to the fact that laws have not yet been broken.
"What student group?"
Jessica looked at me like I was crazy, "you don't know about that?"
I shook my head.
She sighed, "a group of six students went to collect samples for a biology project. They went camping to get them. The students left in groups of twos and came back to see their camp ransacked. The catch to this was, only two groups came back. They went to look for the last group only to find a trail of blood leading to a dark cave. They saw a man standing inside. They ran when they saw that he was covered in a red substance as well. Poor kids..."
"Why didn't I know of this?" I asked.
"It happened a while ago. We all decided to forget. Where is he? He said he'd be here at seven, right?" Jessica changed the dark subject and mood. She was right. It was eight now and not a sign of that raven haired boy had been made known.
"Maybe he's just late," I said trying to focus on the television my mother had installed.
Another noise was made. Knocking. I opened the door and there he stood.
"Sorry I'm late," John said, "stuff went down over at our dorm. You ready to go?"
"Yeah," I told him,"hey, can she come along too?" I pointed at Jessica, "I'm not that comfortable going alone with someone I just met."
He looked at her. Something in his eyes left. I couldn't put my finger on it though. "Sure," he said.
John turned around and made a motion for us to follow. He said nothing the whole way there. Down the hall, out of the building, into the woods bordering campus, a right, another right, a left, and into a clearing. At the end of the clearing was a cave. The entrance was covered in large steal bars. Most likely to keep people out. They were rusty and I could make out a dry, black liquid on them.
"Here it is," he said blankly, "the cave where the incident happened. Spooky right?" He looked at me.
"Yeah," I said, glancing at Jessica. She looked mortified.
"We should go," she said, "this place gives me weird vibes."
"Oh," John laughed, "maybe someone is going to come out of the cage and..." he approached her slowly before shouting into her face, "EAT US ALL!"
Jessica jumped back in fear. "Not cool, man," I said in response.
He laughed," alright, if you want to leave, I won't force you to stay."
With that, he led us back with a grin on his face.
