"What is it Holly?"
"Commissioner Montre is here to see you. He said it's urgent." Announced a young woman over the little speaker on the desk.
"I wasn't expecting him today." The man muttered to himself before announcing, "Send him in."
"Right away sir." She took her finger off the button and looked up at the commissioner. "You can go ahead." She informed, standing up to open the door.
"I got it. You may want to hold his calls for the next little while." He suggested solemnly. She simply nodded, curiosity written on her face.
"Nice to see you today Phillip. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting you today." The man greeted, walking around the paper ladened desk and shaking his hand. "As you can see, it's busy as always." He said, looking back at the stacks of papers and folders.
"This isn't a social call Charles."
"Okay, so business. Have something new for me to finish putting the nails in Malcolm's coffin?" He asked curiously, not sure why the man wasn't just coming out with his reason for visiting. He was generally so good at getting to the point.
"You heard about the bank robbery earlier today right?"
"Yeah? Was it related to him?" Rubbing his hands together eagerly. Every bit of information he could get against Malcolm would make his job a million times easier.
"At this time we don't know for sure but it is very likely. The manner in which the guards were gunned down is very similar to his main men. As usual, we can't prove it's directly linked to him but we all know." Phillip explained, though he wasn't sure how to proceed with the other, more crucial piece of information and he was taking too much time thinking about it, causing Charles to become uneasy and anxious.
"Just spit it out Phil. I know there's more to it than what you're saying."
"Alright... Ah, there were hostages taken from the bank." The commissioner dropped the evidence bag containing the purse and wallet of Juliet in a chair in front of the desk. Charles reached down and picked it up, shooting his friend an uneasy look. "This was found at the scene and from the security footage, she was taken. From what we saw, one of the men had a gun to a child's head and she stood up and spoke out to him. I think he planned on killing her but their leaders came back and he just grabbed her. I'm so sorry."
There was silence in the large office as he took a seat behind his desk once again, still holding on to the evidence bag. He popped it open and searched through the contents. Wallet, car keys, lip gloss, candy wrappers, candy and several other items that you'd expect in a young woman's purse.
"Do you have her cell phone?" He questioned, looking up at his friend.
"I don't believe so. That's all that was there."
"Did you find her car?"
"Yeah, it was parked on the side of the building. We didn't see any reason to search it."
"We might want to. If her phone isn't here and isn't in her car, it would be on her. There's a small chance we could track her through that, isn't there?" Charles knew that the chance was really slim but it was something that they didn't have a few minutes ago.
"Okay, I'll give a call. For now though, how do you want to proceed?" The commissioner asked
"Keep her name out of the media. We don't want them to know who they have. Less information they have on her the better for all bodies involved. I know she would be smart enough to keep her mouth shut on at least her personal information. Anything else, I really can't say." He explained with a sigh. He knew very well that his daughter had a bad habit of saying things at the wrong moment, as well as having a smart mouth. Hopefully it didn't get her into too much trouble.
