So we visited Hagrid, he told us about how he went searching for giants and all that (you all probably know) when we arrived he was covered in bruises and cuts. Then! Oh but then! Umbridge arrived.

FLASHBACK

someone rapped on the door in the middle of Hagrid's tale. My cup full of punch fell to the floor and smashed to pieces.

"It's her!" I whispered.

"Get under here!" Harry said quickly, he whirled the invisibility cloak over us and we all backed away into the corner and huddled together on the floor.

"Hagrid, hide our mugs!" Harry said.

Hagrid seized our mugs and shiver them under the cushion in Fang's basket. Hagrid pushed Fang away from the door, because he was basically going crazy.

Umbridge stood at the door as Hagrid swung it open.

"So," she said slowly and loudly, as if talking to somebody deaf. "You're Hagrid, are you?"

She strolled into the room, eyes bulging in every direction.

"Get away," she snapped, waving her handbag at Fang.

"Er - I don' want ter be rude," Hagrid said, staring down at her. "But who the ruddy hell are you?"

"My name is Dolores Umbridge."

Umbridge looked over in our corner.

"Dolores Umbridge?" Hagrid said confused. "I thought you were on o' them Ministry - don' you work with Fudge?"

"I was Senior Undersecretary to the Ministry, yes," Umbridge said, pacing the cabin. "I am now the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher -"

"That's brave of yeh," Hagrid said. "There's not many'd take tha' job anymore -"

" - and Hogwarts High Inquisitor," Umbridge said, giving no sign that she heard him.

"What's that?" Hagrid asked, frowning.

"Precisely what I was going to ask," Umbridge said, pointing at my broken shards of china on the floor, where I had dropped my mug.

"Oh," Hagrid said, glancing toward our corner. "Oh, tha' was . . . Was Fang. He broke a mug. So I had ter use this one instead."

Hagrid pointed at the mug that he is drinking from.

"I heard voices," she said quietly.

"I was talkin' ter Fang," Hagrid said.

"And he was talking back to you?"

"Well . . . In a manner o' speakin'," Hagrid said, looking uncomfortable. " I sometimes say Fang's near enough human -"

"There are four sets of footprints in the snow leading from the castle doors to your cabin," Umbridge said.

I gasped, Harry clamped a hand over my mouth. Luckily Umbridge didn't hear.

"Well, I on'y jus' got back," Hagrid said, waving an enormous hand. "Maybe someone came ter call earlier an' I missed 'em."

"There are no footsteps leading away from your cabin door."

"Well I . . . I don' know why that'd be . . ." Hagrid said, glancing at our corner. "Erm . . ."

Umbridge wheeled around and strode the length of the cabin, looking around carefully. She bent and peered under the bed, she opened Hagrid's cupboards. She strode to our corner and stretched her hand out. My eyes widened when her hands almost brushed the place where my eyes are.
