PRESENT
White lights were the first and last thing I saw. I open my eyes and I found myself in a white room. I was alone in the room. Wait, where am I? I tried to sit but my head starts to throb as soon as I tried. The door opens and my mom comes in.
"Why am I here?" I finally spoke and winced as my head starts to throb more. Once my mom comes in, another figure comes to the room. I'm assuming he's the doctor; well he looks like one so I assumed he is the doctor.
"Braelynn do you remember anything?" The doctor asked and I mouthed no since my head would throb more if I shook it. The room I found myself in was small. There was the bed, which I'm on, a couch, a side table, and all the medical technology we have in this century.
"What happened?" I managed to croak out.
"It was raining, you were with him, then he lost control and both of you went off road." Mom was trying not to cry, but who was she referring to as 'he'? I have no idea. I felt like I was having the worst hangover, but this is worse than a hangover.
"Who's him mom?"
"Jaxton." Jaxton... Sounds familiar. Well obviously, you managed to be in a hospital, thanks to him. Ugh I didn't know I'd still have that voice in my head, especially with this headache. In the next second I felt like my ears were going to explode, I heard a screeching sound, and that's when I remembered.
Jaxton. The mission. The school year. The graduation. I remember everything. Why does it have to end like this? Everything was going exactly like the plan, but obviously, things didn't work out well. My eyes widened and I didn't care about my throbbing head anymore.
"Where's Jaxton?" I asked sternly. My voice was full of seriousness and worry. I don't know where he is, and I just have to find him. He said he'd come back for me, but I'm not counting on it anymore. I know how he is.
"Jaxton left. He was conscious when both of you arrived, and he also came by before he left and he wanted me to give you this." My mom reaches something from one of the side tables it looked like an envelope. It's a letter. I took a deep breath and took the envelope from my mom as she handed it over to me.
